It looks like this is finally coming to an end. Could it be so? Now this guy should concern himself with seeing how he can help the IPA a little. Since you are still on probation, I would recommend you hang low, but you should still support the guys with the yellow lanyards........soon you'll be wearing one and making three times what you are now!!!!!

So 4th and Goal, you're going to have to put up with me for a very long time. I really am not a selfish jerk, I just had to stir the pot a little to see what came up.

From what I gather the IPA is extremely unified. UPS talks a great game because they are so good at union negotiations. There is no management team in the country as good at dealing with unions than UPS. However, the IPA is full of 1988 hires who have busted their rumps for an entire career to make this a billion dollar a year company. It will probably even come to a strike, but it will only last 10 minutes. It's just business and I understand that a lot better now.

So when is your management interview?

PPPPPuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhlllllleeeeeeeeezzze!!!!!!!!!

I'd never go mgt at UPS. I respect myself and otther human beings too much. I am going to trust the IPA with my family's future. I'll do whatever the IPA asks me to do while on probation fully expecting to get fired if their is a strike. You guys better negotiate a new contract that brings us back though. From the converation I had today, I'd be very happy with what UPS has already offered us. I understand that the pension is a sticking point and understand why the IPA is insisting on it. I can deal without having decent facilities at the gateways as long as our jobs are secure and the wallets are fat.

"I'm not attacking you on this one, I guess I don't understand how your CB-agreement works. Was first year pay not included in the negoitiations with the rest of your contract? Why would IPA not stand up and demand better pay for your 1st year guys? Who negoitiates for first year pay if not the IPA, or is a probationary pilot not part of the CB?"

It is my understanding due to the first year pilots being on probation and having no protection through the union, we, the union, have no input to their pay! That is UPS responsibility alone! UPS should be ashamed of themselfs! I will pose a question! Should we, The IPA, trade moneys, work rules... for raising the probationary pay? Trade 25 years of earnings and work rules vs, 12 months of probation pay? It is easy for me to say no, I'm not on probation. But the goal is to get off probation and enjoy the fruits of your labor! I say no to negotiating the probationary pay! SHAME UPS INTO DOING THE RIGHT THING! Count yours days untill you get your yellow lanyard. Then join us on the picket line.

Dang it! I was hoping you would leave so I could move up a number.

Just kidding! I actually got offered a FedEx interview a few weeks after I finished training at UPS. I decided not to mess with a good thing and graciously declined. We will both know if we made the right decision in a few decades. Let's cross our fingers.

You gotta love it. You Brown guy's really wear your hearts on your sleeves. I guess it true, adversity builds great determination. I wish you all well in your up coming battle to win the contact you (we) deserve. I only hope our elected leadership will stand back and let the process take its course
