I said IF because I still hold out for that one-in-a-million chance that ALPA will actually read the results of thier survey and act accordingly. I am, of course, making a hugh assumption that on the Decision 2008 survey that the majority of pilots would prefer to have "no endorsement" over any of the choices that we are currently facing. My gut tells me that even if the survey yields these results, ALPA will as you mentioned, endorse a candidate (99.9% - Dem / 0.1 % - Rep) and I will be left with no alternatives.

As for why I addressed the difference in the terms "non-member" versus "dues paying non-member", thanks for the 411 on the current contract and agency shop...I well aware of how it was implemented. I was merely pointing out that not all non-members are paying their fair share, and that regardless of whether I chose to stay or go, I would always feel an obligation to pay my part (even if agency shop wasn't in the contract). That's all.

FLMD11CAPT-

No sarcasm here...just an honest question. What do you mean by a "non-member in members clothing, hiding until your own selfish needs overide your need for anonimity"? I am certainly not defending any non-members who chose to fly DP's or not pay their fair share, but to say that by choosing to not be a member is selfish confuses me; Not every decision to leave the union revolves around money.

P.S. Before you accuse me of being a DP flying, non-dues paying member, I am neither. I own a hat, walked the picket lines, declined draft and did everything this MEC asked of me during the past 7 years. Flame on.

After reading the candidates answers on ALPA's website, including McCain's, it was clear America is bereft in quality candidates for the office without corners. The Dems will overload the Treasury with programs (like McCain will with DOD) yet McCain will sell blue collar workers (like pilots) to the Great race to the bottom.

Read McCain's answers on ALPA's website. It's what he DOESN'T say that is ominous.

Civil Disputed Pairing discussion please, lets not get one of our most valuable threads shut down.

Maybe spend some of the energy on ways to put more peer pressure on the MEM DP volunteers.

Good luck. These guys are a bunch of one way prostitutes. "I've got mine pull up the rope."

Rumor here is the increase in R24 lines for Mem 11F was to cover all the disputed pairings. We'll see if guys/gals can stay away from them....hope so.
