FLM11CAPT,
You need to relax. If Bandit pays his union dues, he earns the right to post his ideas and thoughts, WHETHER YOU LIKE THEM OR NOT. What the heck is a "non-member in member's clothing" anyway? Do you make this garbage up as you fondle your DW look-a-like blow-up doll? Stop being such a fascist. Go count your hedge funds and take a load off.

P.S. My DW doll's mustache keeps falling off during the rough stuff, any ideas?

Don't brag, a DW blowup doll would rate about an 8.5 up here in ANC these days.

It's been a long winter and some of the ladies have stubble that would give Colin Farrell a run for his money.

The Disputed Pairing war is a lost cause ............................ I would not bet my career on the guys and gals that can't even stick together on a simple issue like NOT FLYING DISPUTED PAIRINGS .............................. NO SOLIDARITY, NO CONCERN FOR FELLOW WORKERS, NO CARE FOR WHAT TOMORROW WILL BRING, just give 'em that FAT PAYCHECK

Perhaps it's the DP process that is flaw and not the people. Just a thought.

So Onetime,

What other mechanism do we have, before the next round of negotiations comes along, to improve your schedule? To improve all our schedules? And I don't mean next week. This is a long range plan to improve all types of pairings for everyone.

Hmmm. You guessed it. There is none.

The DP process is what we have. Not perfect, but that's it. It will wither if we do not support it. Your choice.

You are correct in that the current process is all we have, for now. However, it is not too early to plot our next plan of attack with regard to pairing QOL. Arguably, our current process is working to a degree. The SIG/PSIT recommends those pairings that are less than desirable, the crew force votes by either picking or not picking those pairings for three months. IMHO, it’s that second part that gets lost and labeled selfish.

Does it really make sense to dispute a 12-day trip for a sequence that occurs on one of those days? If a pairing is truly unsafe, should anyone including reserves, be FORCED to fly it? Why 3 months, why not 1 or 4? If 13:18 duty day is too long, maybe the limit should be 13:15. How are VTOs disputed with regard to body-clock issues, as some VTOs have those same problems?

Yep, it’s all we have, but you must admit it does have holes. Maybe a monthly thread on making the DP process better in the next contract would be as beneficial as the thread pointing out what they are and who has flown them.

It is not really a "vote" if 5% of the crew force can decide the election.

Yes it make sense to dispute the pairing if one segment is bad. Good news Mr. Johnson 9 of your 10 major organs are in excellent shape.

Sure it is, all the company has to do is slap a DH on a turd and we will fight to pick it up.
3 months later it is not disputed any longer and they put that 1 crappy day at the end of a 10 day crappy trip...voila 11 day crappy trip.

Onetime,

If you don't want a pairing disputed, e-mail the PSIT. They are crewmembers just like us. They just spend one week every other month building the schedule.

Of course they will try to explain why they think it should stay disputed. But if you, and others, are not swayed and pick them up the pairing will leave the dispute process and eventually end up on a line. You will eventually get to have it the way you want it. The PSIT doesn't have the power to tell anyone how to fly if they don't want to follow their lead. You may learn something from the PSIT about your particular pairing or the big picture. You may know all that already. But the PSIT will definitely learn what one of the crewmembers is thinking. It may affect their building. They literally beg for more than the occasional "you suck" type of e-mail.

It is a pain for the PSIT guys to put pairings in for dispute. I believe they are doing it because they don't want to fly those types of trips either. Who else really looks out for your schedule other than the PSIT? I would not be so quick to dismiss the PSIT guys just because you don't currently talk to them. They are human and could choose to let a bunch turds start floating by if no one supports their work. Pairings often get fixed before they ever end up on a line or in open time.
