I think the bigger question is, with so many people living in areas where the housing market has toppled, are they willing to accept the loss and move on, or keep paying for a house that is no longer worth what they are paying for it. My meager S/O house isn't quite worth what I purchased it for do to the forclosures in my neighborhood, but I am still considering taking the hit, going to ANC to keep widebody pay, before taking the narrowbody hit and reduced blg. I guess that is the question for all involved, is the juice worth the squeeze!

Unfortuantely, I think the company learned from the last excess bid. I think they may be looking to slice off the bottom of the Bus, but there will be strategic "1's" for vacancies to bypass passover pay ie hkg capt. It will be interesting to see if they are looking to move say the bottom forty again, and it goes some 140 deep![Frown](https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
I think those of us who have become acustom to the wide body teet, that that addiction may lead us North before we go back to the slave ship. I do know that I have already started talking to my wife about the possibility of a move and staying in ANC for a couple of years then coming back, other than finding a second job to support the pay decrease and the BLG drop.

...and isn't there a narrow-body MEM option that isn't the "purple slave ship"?
I think these two options may change the dynamics of the upcoming excess bid ---- and both of these options are in "growth" airplanes where we can afford to "plus up" over the next 2 years.

...but don't you have a wide-body option in MEM that you didn't have during 08-03?

It's my opinion that DLax was talking about the options for the F/Os... but I might be wrong. A lot of Captains on the bottom of their airplane are going to get hosed by an upcoming excess. It is a sad reality.
