Since I've got nothing better to do, might as well jump back in the mud...
Mistake, I don't know if ANC was a base or not when you came here so I can understand the frustration if it wasn't. If you didn't do your homework and realize what life on the line was like at brown before choosing to leave your previous "major", then all I can say is sucks to be you. All I hope for your family is you have a better attitude around them than you display here. Life is to short to fret about a job. It's a job, hopefully not your identity.
As far as PBS, does anyone really think there are enough flights/choices at UPS? I just don't see enough variety to be able use it. I only want 3 day trips with 16 hour layovers and no 3 hour sits. And only to HNL.
Think that'll work?

Just that entire crowd, call them what you want, is something I don't want to deal with....EVER AGAIN!

Does anybody else regret coming over here to UPS? I do.
So far my career with UPS has been one let down after another. From about a week after getting done with IOE this place has really gone downhill for me and I honestly regret leaving my old airline for this place. The biggest let down is that I could be working for Southwest living in base and not having to commute. And even if I did have to commute with them, at least me life wouldn't be filled with so many unknowns.
Now it seems that I am going to get displaced to Anchorage. My 2nd displacement already.
I just moved to Louisville (bought a house too) and I cannot believe that I am going to have to make that commute to Anchorage. I hear horror stories and I am not looking forward to being away from my kids for so long.
And moving to Alaska? Yeah, I don't think that is going to happen. Nothing against anyone who lives there, but why would anyone move there unless you were raised there and had family there? Plus, I just bought a house in KY!!
AK is cold, the crime is bad, the winters are dark and long and it is expensive! I cannot see one single reason to move there! My wife will hate it with having young kids that won't know their grandparents and other family!
Ugh, I am really miserable with this place. I dread getting the news that I'm off to ANC!!!
Flame away, and don't take it the wrong way. I am very happy with how the IPA has treated us, but I just am not happy with my decision to come here. It is wrecking me and my family.
Coming to UPS has been a huge mistake in my life.

Dude...
You're killing me! Be careful what you indirectly wish for. With your defeatist, poor-poor-pitiful-me attitude, if you did get a job in the septic industry, after about a month you'd no doubt start sniveling so much a co-worker would knock you out with a shovel and dump you into a septic tank just to shut you up.
You could go to a cancer ward and within ten minutes people would be hanging themselves...
Amazing.

But you go on and keep telling yourself that everything is fine and keep allowing this company and industry to walk all over you. Me on the other hand will walk away and work in another field because I am not going to let some company ship my butt up to Alaska just for some measly scraps of pay.
Wallowing around in other peoples' feces (like some on here say) is much more preferable to me than commuting up to Alaska at half pay for a company that makes a billion dollars every few months, and I guarantee that I won't regret one second of the work. I've worked in the building trades all my life and I've turned many wrenches too.
What sort of manual labor have you done tough guy?

Dude... I did get hired on with the septic contractor and I start there next week. I will keep you posted on how it's going, but I'm not too worried about someone knocking me out with a shovel or anything else for that matter. I'd like to see you try it old timer.

And, after 32 pages, this guy is a joke. Someone bored on reserve, a flaimbaiter. And, on the off chance that this is real, this guy needs to pull up his panties. Enough, buttercup!

Just curious if UPS took your LOA and for how long? I understand many of your points on here being a family guy myself (Gigitty). Enjoy the family because you are absolutely right that an hourly rate won't get that time back with your kids. Unfortunately it takes many in this business chasing the "Dream" to figure that out and by that time the first wife is gone and the kids are all grown up.
Thanks for taking a leave so the rest of us that have nothing else to fall back on can continue to do the ANC shuffle.
At least you can say you are in the Brown Pool now.
Good luck to you.
