I know that the FO for trip 76/6APR got it off reserve. Why doesn't the trip recap show RSV next to his name? Does that not show up until the trip has started?

If you get a DP off reserve, what, if anything, can you do to help the situation? What if you are a new hire?

You only see how your trip was assigned on your personal VIPs trip recap. To all others it is designed to remain a mystery.

Maybe you should set an example for the rest of us lemmings. Put your own ALPA lanyard to good use, J/S over to CGN and flog the DP violator with it. Be sure to have someone film the event and put it on YouTube, as a warning for anyone thinking of picking up a DP.

What about a nice big fine from our ALPA leadership. If they can force the membership to pay their dues under pain of termination by the company (yes, this is true), why not negotiate a clause in our contract that says the union can fine or have the company terminate a member for failing to comply with an identified safety issue...flying a DP? Bottom line: Money talks.

Because management ("the company") LIKES the DPs, and they want them flown (else they wouldn't build them). They don't acknowlege that it's a safety issue. The guys who fly DPs are, in effect, management's butt buddies on this issue. SOoooo, why would management negotiate a clause that fines or fires their butt buddies? What do you plan to offer as an incentive for management to do so? PBS?

Stick to carping about lanyards... it doesn't take as much critical thought.

OK, Dad. Ever ask yourself why it’s in the company’s interest to terminate you if you don’t pay your UNION dues? Keep to carping yourself, ass#%&^!

It's not in the company's interest. But once they protected their butt buddies (and they did), they didn't care if the remaining 97% who were memebers anyway, paid dues or not. The question is: What did we give up to get agency shop? And was it worth it?
