I don't see pibs in the future. But doesn't it seem like they have squeezed us as much as they can, with the optimizer? I know that going to an all Boeing fleet with require less pilots. But my question is, if their goal is 3000 to 3600 pilots, why aren't they able to do that right now?
Would you mind saying what training track you heard this on?? Just Curious.

From a dude high up and in the know, told company is targeting 4000 pilots. Also, he confirmed December excess bid in MD-11.

Looks like upgrades are a long way off for many folks.

If they are parking MD-10s and buying 767s...it makes since.

Did the annonmous person in the know elude to base(s) for the MD-11 excess.....ANC or MEM or both?

Thanks

Proof positive that close enough works not only for nukes and hand grenades, but also for spelling.

I asked that very question. Was told both bases effected. In fact, he said MD-11's in ANC will be a thing of the past in the not too distant future as 777 picks up remainder of flying and new sort facility in KIX allows for transshipments without stopping in ANC.

Asked about LAX. Told company is still trying to find a way to close it down, but too expensive to do so at this time.

He said all MD-11's will be domestic as soon as enough 777's come aboard as 777 beats MD-11 in all markets. I disputed the last remark as empty 777's are expensive at $200m/copy versus a paid for MD-11.

This came from a test pilot. These were things he was hearing from guys above him. He said the md's will be going away sooner than we think.
I remember hearing 5 years ago that they would never run another fo class for the md-11. But that proved false. When I was hearing what he was saying, I had a hard time thinking it was going to happen. I was just wondering what everyone else thought.
