Well, then you don't grasp the lesson that history has taught us here, which is what history is all about. I'm not much of a history buff, but I was there when the plain language interpretation was written and I would like to believe that it was not written intentionally to throw a monkey wrench in the gears that was our contract for 5+ years. However, I'm not so naive to discount a possibility that some management guy dropped a hint to come up with a plain language interpretation after hearing Maxwell or Maliniak make a comment at some meeting that what the pilots really need is a coloring book to understand the contract. Remember you're not paranoid if they really are out to get you.
I for one am glad that the Union has evolved to a point that we have good people in there that do understand the historical significance, because for them it's been painful for over 5 years. If that doesn't suit your needs I'm sorry.

You've quoted the Fedex Pilots Association. The FPA served a purpose, almost like a "training" union to help transform this pilot group from a group of union haters to a cohesive, unified pilot group that realizes the neccessity of collective bargaining. Don't expect ALPA to do everything that FPA did. As has been stated numerous times before, on this thread and others, it is your personal responsibility to read your contract, and know it. Seeing as you're a special case and I'm a patient and generous man, I've offered to help hold your hand. Stop whining about ALPA.
Oh, and if you think I'm almost out of control, why don't you print out my posts and give them to your wife, and have her carry them to my Assistant Chief Pilot. He should be concerned about my mental state, don't you think? Better yet, why don't you carry them in yourself? He may have a few questions for you.

Are we on the same team here? I mean, really. Do we not work for the same employer, and belong to the same union?
Then why can't we be civil, and exchange ideas like adults? I think we've both gotten a bit carried away, either out of frustration, or out of anger, or out of vain attempts at humor. But when the rubber meets the road, we should be able to focus on our common goals and methods of reaching the goals.
It is imperative that you read your contract. ALPA is NOT going to give you a Reader's Digest condensed version of it, and nobody is going to write a FedEx Contract for Dummies. You're just going to have to read it, and if you don't understand something, ask questions. We can talk about it here. You can talk to your Block Rep on the phone, or in person, or via e-mail. You can chat on private boards on the ALPA website or *************.com. There's lots of avenues of communication -- but you're not going to get what you're asking for, and it's a GOOD thing.
That's just all there is to it.
I don't know what happened to your Cheerios or Wheaties to get you so upset at ALPA in general, and the contract in specific, but you've got to get over it. Stop taking pot shots, and act like an adult about it.

And, if we can believe 42go's post about going to management then we know what kind of individual he is and it perfectly explains his posts here.

I appreciate the gravity of the charge, and the contributions of those gone before me. I hope 42GO does, as well.

Why?
Why can't we all just get along?
Have I missed something? If you need an help with an item or items in the contract, just pick up the phone and call your rep or the union directly. Is there a need to start with all the name calling and verbal attacks? Plus, and this has been asked/stated before, is this the "correct" forum for this to be in?
