I dranks beers at the James Joyce in Paris with a buddy of his a couple weeks ago. Said he was supposed to have his day in court the next day and expected it to be reduced to a misdemeanor with probation and goes away eventually. Not sure what the actual outcome was.

If I were a betting man, I wouldn't.

OK this post started out about ALPA dues and has since gone on many tangents. Since it started as a sort of "pay" issue and the thread has long since been hijacked I feel OK to ask this question. What is VEBA? I just noticed a new deduction on my last paycheck stub for VEBA for about $38 and some change. Total for year is also $38 so first entry was the 15DEC paycheck.

Here I am just trying to see what percentage union dues are and I get an interesting dialog between 2 FedEx guys.

Haha I wonder if "42go" and "TonyC" became drinking buddies 15 years later.

A voluntary employees' beneficiary association (VEBA) plan is a type of tax-exempt trust used by its members and eligible dependents to pay for eligible medical expenses. Pretty much a program of the past.

Definitely not “of the past”. We started one at brown with the 2016 contract. It’s a good deal for paying for post retirement medical bills with income that is not taxed. Essentially makes those bills 33% (roughly your tax rate) less.
