These are on the bus, also. It effectively makes it very difficult to drop or trade off certain days, even if there are just a few trips in open time, and max open shouldn't be a factor. I've only seen these in December before, and it makes adjusting your schedule a challenge. They are particularly crappy deals, as you mentioned, two duty periods for only a day and a half of pay.

How can you say that? Mayday Mark has been telling us what a great deal these are

Don't you want to sit in a hotel room watching tv while the company provides a driver for you. Maybe you could work some caviar and champagne into the deal.

My experience with Hotel Standbys has been the opposite. The longest I've spent in the hotel is a couple of hours. In one case I got to my room, sat on the bed, called the scheduler to give him my room number, and he had an assignment already. That resulted in an odd look from the front desk clerk.

You can definitely do it without a car, and I would recommend it. You can volunteer to drive yourself, but you'll also be assuming responsibility and liability for anything that happens along the way, and for however long it takes you to get to the hub. I drive to the hotel (I live in domicile), but let The Company arrange the transportation when I'm called to go fly.

Good one. More likely a Scooby snack and a bottle of water, when you get launched. Actually, two of them, one for each standby period!

If you were to get launched, anything past the two days would be draft pay.

Unless you had more r days after the stby then I don't think you get squat.. I think the can launch you for as long as you have days. And if you picked it up on makeup, I don't think overage ever comes into the equation. But our contract is clear and easy to read so I could be wrong.. Who knows; bet contract enforcement doesn't even know.
