Uncle Joe isn't the only lessor out there, and I think even you said ATSG was willing to give up "low hanging fruit" for Amazon work. When you got a company with a fresh new source of money, a motivated new CEO, and an airline with no attachments to any 1224 carrier, then I would be cautious about where they look for business.
Lau Tsu said "there is no greater danger than underestimating your opponent", and if I was the leadership of 1224 I would keep that quote in mind.

Not sure what I'm misunderstanding, DHL acquired the airplanes but the CMI contract went out to bid. ABX, Atlas, and Capital Cargo(that I know of) put in bids to operate the airplanes. CCIA was knocked out by ABX's scope clause, and Muckle and crew were SURE that ABX was going to get the work. In the end, Atlas got the CMI contract and got their foot in the door into ABX's bread and butter work. Granted this was before 1224's big solidarity push, but don't ever underestimate another carrier willing to do your work for less.

I expected you to reply with a Larry the Cable guy quote, but I guess a made-up quote is just as good. How's that 'shine tasting Bubba?

I wouldn't worry too much about AJT getting into the DHL business, at least for a while. It will take a year or so to figure out that AJT management couldn't run a taco stand. They used their low Miami labor costs to fund other businesses that failed. The airline was the only profitable entity. IBT 769 was the best choice the pilot group made in 2004. I have personally attended a pilot meeting in the last year, and was impressed with the handful of guys that are running the show. As for the rest of the "pilots" at AJT, they couldn't fly themselves out of a paper bag. It would take a massive change in culture to fly for DHL like ABX and Atlas do on a daily basis. Given the background of the new CEO, I am guessing that AJT will try to pick up charter work in the Persian Gulf or some other higher risk places. Good luck to the scabs that made this place home. Or not.

Regional model, now in the freight world?
It seems to me, why would B767 drivers go to AMJET, when Dynamic is paying 3,000 $/ mo, after its recent pay reduction. "Tongue in Cheek".
The entire industry of bottom feeders is competing for the Amazon "pot of gold", acquiring 767's, and offering minimum wage pilot pay to operate that wide body freighter. With the exception of ABX, the entire industry is playing right into the hands of the Bezos machine.
So very frustrating to see the unions unable to strategize efficiently, and take advantage of this potential boom in business.
The regional jet model, is now taking hold in the freightdog world.
IMHO, the honest way I see it.
Safe journies...Sushi

looking to settle with the pilot group for contractual improvement, or more the case, looking to devolve to Southerns posture.
Not looking to be offensive, just concerned, the likes of Dynnamic, Skylease, Amerijet become the new potential whipsaw models.
Safe travels...
