I agree. Also if you get hired into a hiring "pool" somewhere, keep sending out the resumes because they may never call you out of that pool.

What's it take to get a call from Omni? I have applied probably 15 times in the last 5 years and not a peep. I have over 7000 hours, 7 type ratings, glass, boeing, and extensive international experience. I thought that might be what they are looking for.

The vast majority of people here have an internal recommendation.

I got called by Omni, without any recommendations. I turned it down, however.

Internal rec must be a big player at Omni; another OH'er and I were fortunate to have one.

I had a successful interview last week (as did my fellow OH'er), and was VERY thankful to have done so. Being in the Comair _flush_ and competing with other furloughed heavy drivers doing what Omni is looking for, I felt my chances of an interview, let alone a pool offer, were quite slim. I was NOT looking forward to going to the bottom of another regional after 10 years at OH.

My HR interview was completely opposite the previous poster's. She was quite pleasant with me and the questions were straightforward. The Mgr of Flt Stds interview was quite pleasant and straightforward, too...nothing out of the ordinary! The 36Q computerized tech test was a breeze after studying for the Atlas test! The sim, however, was my weak point. Having been an RJ driver for 10 years, I wasn't used to holding the nose so high on approach, so my ILS was a little ugly. The takeoff, climb, turn, accelerate, turn-descend-decelerate, determine hold entry went fairly well. Though the ILS was a bit of a cluster, I safely made the runway and the landing. The V1 cut was only to 1000' and it went fine.

After first the Mgr of Flt Stds interview, HR interview, tech test, then sim, my sim partner and I were called into the hallway and offered the pool. We were then fingerprinted and put on a van to a lab for drug screening.

There's a 777 ground school going on right now from earlier interviews, and we were told to expect a class the first week in Jan if they don't class up in the next couple weeks; they don't want to run the training dept. over the holidays. Rumor has it they're in negotiations for another 777 from an Asian carrier, and that we'd class up for it. We were told you stay on the airplane for which you're trained, unless you upgrade on the other, then you're frozen there...pay is the same for both types.

I'm very thankful that we were notified right away whether we were successful or not. Waiting out other places for some time was not a pleasant experience! I asked if there would be more interviews coming up, but was told they're kind of wrapping up for the year. Hopefully there will be more airplanes coming and more hiring soon!! I wish everyone the best and I feel awful for those that I met online or at the interview that weren't offered the job.

Questions for Hovernut.

What are the flight hours do you have?

What aircraft was the sim ride based on?

Thanks in advance.

I'm truly sorry to hear the interview didn't go well for you - I truly am, that just sucks.

I've never interviewed with Omni - so I don't have any insight on the process there. I don't say this to rub salt in the wound - but of the four 121 interviews I've done (hardly and exhaustive sample I freely admit), they have all had a sim profile with a V1 cut FWIW.

Hopefully another opportunity will present itself soon and you'll knock the next one out of the park.
