You know, you mentioned it but didn't really explain, what is "United" material? Other than you guys are old enough to be our parents, what is the difference? My company has its fair share of weirdos but most are good to be stuck with for 4 days. Every other airline could be said the same, including United. We also have an arguably tougher job than you guys dealing with the regional trenches, according to some mainline JSers. So what are you saying? You don't want non astronauts? Times have changed we all need to embrace one another as professional pilots. We all do the same job.

Pilots always let their egos get in the way of the business side, and then the business forces them to concede. The only reason Commutiar is getting this is to attract new hires in an environment where you have more jobs than people chasing them. United isn't doing this because they like Commutair but because they are caving to reality and have to do this to staff the equipment. There are a couple of major concessions from the deal offered to UAX carriers last year and this, while not a flow, is very close. The reason for the scabs, ridiculously inexperienced minority hires, and other interns have to do with business reasons and the pilots had nothing to say about it in the end. You will probably see deals like this at other UAX carriers as United capitulates to the reality that it must give pilots an incentive to come to UAX carriers. If the preferred interview doesn't attract enough applicants a flow will follow. UAL pilots will give management whatever they need when it is demonstrated to them that without this, mainline jobs will be threatened because they won't have shiny RJs flying around to fill those 777s, 737s, A320s, and 787s...either that or they will move small jet flying to mainline, which will result in even more positions at mainline. Either way, regional pilots win as we will see more jobs and movement to mainline.

Don't mistake pride for arrogance. Everyone may have an ATP but not everyone is cut out to represent United Airlines, and you know that. That's why there is an interview. Flows cause pilots to become entitled and you just proved it. You have an ATP so are you entitled to be a 777 FO? I will never support a true flow, however I will support this Commute Air deal because each pilot must interview though clearly motivated by inability to maintain the feed as well as DA and AAG
Don't get upset because I'm making sure someone one this Regional board knows the truth. Lots of miss information is posted here. As I said above United Pilots will have absolute say in who gets hired because there is an interview. And the United pilots get well qualified Commute Air pilots out of the deal, and that's it because it is NOT a flow.
Who hired the interns, trained the interns, worked with the interns and then recommended the interns for a job? United pilots. They may not have had flight time but their work ethic, personality and knowledge was vetted by pilots.
You have been at United a lot longer than me and I will eat my words if you can give me time in Uniteds history that a United Pilot was not present, and conducted an interview. (The strike doesn't count)

Further more, it is insulting and hypocritical that UA is drawing a line on having a Bachelors degree while allowing one of their FFD carriers to hire pilots without. Then, after servicing UA customers for several years, say they do not qualify to be a mainline pilot. When will the airlines realize we are all moving airplanes and the same customers. Surprised the FAA is okay with all these shananagins. I figured standards would become more uniform since the Colgan crash in Buffalo. This latest CA pref interview. Is a move in that direction

So where are these aircraft coming from? XJT ALPA say's it's not coming from ExpressJet and this article from AirwayNews say's they are. Which is a more credible source? LOL

Just curious that it says CommutAir will have the first 145 flying in April 2016 which is only like about 6 months.
Piedmont was told by our POI that putting the 145's on our property would take anywhere from 12-16 months. The first Piedmont 145 will hopefully be flying in Feb. 2016 which is around a year.
Was CommutAir already working on the program ahead of this announcement? If not do they really think this can be done by April?

Exactly! We are technically United pilots as far as the passengers are concerned. We are flying United passengers sometimes 250 a day multiple time zones in aircraft as sofisticated as theirs. We're not doing metro liners anymore. Mainline guys need to get with the times.
And there will always be a need for pilots to fly those sophisticated regional aircraft up and down the East Coast "representing United". Those jobs will be reserved for those who don't possess a bachelor's degree or higher. Think of it as a modern day RJDC.

The first 145 is scheduled to be flown to our MX hub next week or the week after. It sounds like the company has been working on this for a long time prior to announcing it. However, I too find it hard to believe we will be able to operate revenue flights by April.
