Losing Delta and New Opportunities

And yet JSX

Seems to be willing to make a go of it with old EMB 135s and 145s, rehabbed and now limited to only 30 pax.
Clearly they have a different idea than you if what is economically feasible.

The 550 is not the moonshot people are making it out to be. True enough it has a market where it can make a great return. But it’s not a 200 replacement, it’s a stop gap/ bluff hoping that UALPA will blink and give some type of scope relief.

Because UAL is only flying a fraction of the 50 seaters they can fly. Also, when the worm turns as it always does in this business when the economy takes a dump, UAL pilots will have no rights to any of the 50 seaters. If UAL offers furlough protection through a flow down then the decision will be easy.

Historically speaking, ALL airlines have a ridiculously low success rate. Just ask the PanAm, TWA, and Braniff guys - among very many others.

Let me help out
Panam ...... sold international to buy National out of MIA......mistake
TWA sold international LHR ... Icahn and caribou .... mistake
Braniff thought a regional can just add 747s with no route structure ...mistake
America West .... 747s Pacific dream ....mistake
AMR, UAL, DL, SWA are here to stay
Along with FEDEX and UPS
The rest you are correct we shall see
