The way I understand it, the other two bases cover some of the SEA flying just by how the pairings our built. In the fall and winter months the SEA block hours will come down, and our existing staffing will cover most of the SEA trips. The numbers that my rusty memory come up with through crew room chit chat is that they expect there to be enough flying for about 50 lines in SEA in a normal summer and quite a bit less in the fall. The most recent bid posting shows 45 CA/48 FO in SEA. That will leave staffing for about 30 to 35 lines. The MSP and LAX pairings cover the excess in the summer, and the SEA based pilots can cover most of it the rest of the time. In other words, we won't grow and shrink the base every season.

Hello Compass Pilots,

I have been hearing lots of great things about Compass from random acquaintances and from what I read in this forum most people really seem to enjoy it (either that or this thread simply has a low garbage content :-) ). What are some of the specifics of working at Compass that you personally find better than other airlines? Anything in particular from your contract that sets Compass apart?

Thanks

It's a great company to work for. Most, if not all of the pilots are genuinely happy to be here which makes a huge difference all across the board. I have yet to hear complaints from anyone I've flown with.

The company is growing and things are moving pretty fast. There's an "open door" policy with management and they're willing to listen and improve on any concerns. Everyone is willing to help you out when you're new making you feel very welcome.

Our performance is not top notch right now but it's mostly due to things that are out of our control, most of it having to do with the construction going on at LAX.

Things may start slowing down with hiring next year but Compass is known for having an unusual amount of movement at the top, more so than the average regional, so upgrades should still occur at or below industry time frames.

After the 10 AA planes come online, is there any more growth planned? When do the AA deliveries finish? And how many total airframes will be on property? Thanks!

No more growth set in stone. I think the last aircraft is supposed to arrive in November(?). 09 just hit LAX yesterday and 10 just hit US soil a few days ago. Total aircraft would be 60 something.

I think Tomato flames is right about deliveries being done November/December that would give us 64 total I think. No future growth planned but there are always the juicy rumors.

What are the rumors? More flying on the AA side or DL side? Any chance Delta will restart the flow?

Never say never. Probably flows will be the future, but that's way down the road.
My favorite rumor is for a few more frames on the delta side cause republic group can't staff it. Timeframe to coincide with end of AA deliveries and flows. Classes have been abnormally large...
