supposedly on the verge of more flying and they just put out a vacancy for less captains than last month. yeah you're right, they do know more than us. i think we should all curb some of the excitement going on here as far as more flying/planes

 

You mean more captains....the vacancy says 12, last month was 0, the month prior to that was 14.

 

oh i thought they put one out October 12th for 14 captain vacancies, and this one shows 10? maybe im missing something. either way, seems like we arent fully up to snuff with captain/fo ratio in lax at the least. thought this one mighy have more but i guess not.

 

Thats incorrect. They've been running 2 vacancies per month - one for new hire FO positions and one for upgrades and some FO movement. CA upgrades have been posted every month since spring.
Vacancies 12 & 13 were for bidding January 1st, 2016. So the last vacancy didn't have upgrades but, that's normal.
Effective for 12/15 bid period vacancy 10 had 14 upgrades.
Effective 1/16 vacancy 12 had 14 upgrades.
Effective 1/31/16(February bid period) vacancy 14 has posted 10 upgrades.

 

So what's your prediction this week of what day the big news is going to drop? And why don't you elaborate on what you think this news is?

 

Heard they were talking about "big announcement" yesterday in the hallways as they were interviewing new candidates.

New flying, higher FO pay and commuter hotels is what I think is going to happen. Transstates already raised the pay to $35/hr and that's even published on their site - I think it's just a matter of time before Compass does something similar. In regards to the new flying- it's simple math, we're already fully staffed for the airplanes on property + flows. They wouldn't be hiring 40-50 a month till spring unless something was up. Other regionals have been offering the 4 hotels per month for quite some time.

I don't know anyone at Compass and I don't have the "scoop" like Rama04 claims he does, I'm just basing these things on logic and common sense. Although....that has never been the case with regionals so we shall see.

 

Really, at this point, it's not even worth speculating until an announcement is made. Life is easier that way. You can't get let down with hopes set too high. When something is announced, you'll know. Just my .02.

 

I completely agree, I only asked because last week Rama was so adiment that big news was coming by Friday and he was so certain, and when asked if he could elaborate he said he could but never did. You would think by now that nothing is true until it's already happened and in play, and even then it's questionable

 

In Rama04's defense, he wasn't the one who said the announcement was coming on Friday. Also, everything you were looking for was talked about already, you just had to go back a few pages.
