Not sure why the company would care who stays in my room as long as I am where I am supposed to be and doing what I am supposed to be doing? Obviously, if there was an additional fee, I'd expect to cover it. I suspect aircrew having visitors in their rooms is not that uncommon. At least this would be one that I am actually married to...

Two plus decades as a Marine aviator. Five overseas deployments in excess of half a year in places where families don't visit. Countless more shorter trips for training, etc. Unfortunately, we are plenty used to being apart and I have learned to take my family time where I can get it.

First, thank you for your service! Second, welcome to Compass! Third, look man, I understand, trust me, but from one professional aviator to another you really need to let this one go. The better option would be commute back home over breaks. You will sometimes get a longer weekend because the instructor lets out early Friday or even finishes on Thur. I went home every weekend during initial up until sims, but I was prior 121, you will need to evaluate your own progress then decide. Once you get to sims there may be large gaps in your training due to availability. If your family has friends or fam living in the MSP area and they wanted to go there and you meet up that would be one thing but I would absolutely advise against having them stay with you for all the multitude of reasons listed above. Source: wife, two kids, one of which I barely saw first year of life because I was year one at CP on rsv commuting, so I do understand.

Good advice, all. Points taken. Six(ish?) weeks with a few short visits may be the better option. Best thing about Compass appears to be direct assignment to an acceptable base (with my family) vice sitting reserve for six months in someplace I'd rather not be. It will all work out in the end.
Thanks, again.

I'd imagine the dynamics of 121 training are pretty similar to what it's like in Navy/Air Force flight training. like 50% of it is getting the information in class, then the other 50% is digesting it in a group setting with your class mates. If a person has family commitments IN THE HOTEL for weeks you are going to miss that opportunity. Sure, it can be done, but it's just not worth the chance of doing it all yourself.

Not there anymore, but my experience as a new hire was quite a bit of time at home. On 2 occasions I commuted back out for IPT's scheduled to find an email upon landing in MSP that there were no instructors and they'd see me in 3 days. I walked off one plane and got back on another to head back home. You'll do fine. Do as others have suggested. If things are going well and you have a single room, bring them out for a short stint.

Enjoy it. You'll like it. Great crews.

It ain't rocket science but you do have to put in the time. I think during sims is a good time for visitors, honestly at that point you should have the flows veryyyy well down before you ever get into sims so just AOM/FOM review and it shouldn't take that long. However you may be going between STL and MSP and so on, so yeah. Can be tricky, but definitely you'll have some time off to see family.

Well I'll certainly take a two step raise. They need to offer more but it's a step.

Is this saying that right seat qualified captains are actually a thing? I thought we were against that?

I don't know. "draw down" is kind of ambiguous. I take it mean there will be fewer ready reserves.

Kudos to our union leadership for these latest improvements: CA Pay increase, sick bank payout, capped bonuses at $25,000 max, 2:1 121 longevity credit for new hires-FO only (“soft-landings”), 3-month trial to wind down ready-reserve.

Hate that we caved on right-seat CA, and the pay doesn’t match YX, and not even close to 9E, but it’s a start, I guess? Also, did we have to agree to a contract extension? How about an LOA next time, instead of a secret meeting?
