I think a collective groan and "Who Cares?" came silently through the phone.

I took the second question during the conference call. Cliff notes of my question "I don t think any of us on property particularly care that new hires are getting bonuses, but the main concern is that those of us who have been here on property are having it taken from us to help fill future classes. Is there any intention for a retention bonus or anything for those of here already?" (FA chimed in at that point : AND FLIGHT ATTENDANTS).

Missed the call. What's the gist on vacations? Does it sound like taking them is inevitable? Much discussion on it?

Honestly guys, the most disappointing aspect of this entire debacle is the fact that our own management seems to be unable to secure new flying and new airframes for us. You can dangle as much money as you want in-front of new hires, but honestly, at the end of the day (assuming CFIs are more educated nowadays about their choice of regionals), people are gonna go with a company from scratch that is growing, that is getting new deliveries and that is expanding their route structure with their partners. That's what this is about. You can only go so far with $17,500 when career prospects are much better anywhere else.
Everyone it seems like, except Compass, ExpressJet and Horizon are taking deliveries of brand new airplanes and brand new flying while we're here with absolutely ZERO new airplanes and ZERO new flying. Before we know it, 2019 and 2020 will be right around the corner and our contracts are going to be up for negotiation. If we announced 20 new airplanes for AA, United, Delta, Alaska or what have you, and we started advertising upgrade times of 3-6 months like before - there wouldn't need to be a $17.5k bonus - so why on earth is everyone else getting so much new flying and we can't secure any? That is what's really bothering me.

So, all the while Skywest puts an order for more E175s to fly for Delta. I thought Delta was scoped out on regional airplanes? Is Skywest just replacing their 50 seaters internally with these new planes or is it truly "new flying"?

I believe a skywest guy chimed in yesterday or the two days ago and said those new DL plane are replacement aircraft, but the Alaska planes were obviously new flying.

Expressjet just lost all of their Delta flying. 28 CRJ900s (Delta owned) transferring to Endeavor, 3 CRJ 700s (Delta owned) transferring to Endeavor. 30 CRJ700s (inc owned) are getting moved to different parts of the system (8 for American and the other 22 unknown). This means that 30 airplanes were available in Delta scope for 70 seat aircraft.
The announcement of 15 E175s configured for 70 seats for Delta is growth. There are still 15 planes up for grabs in the scope language.
In Delta scope clause, there is a max 425 airframes. Expressjet and Endeavor are parking CRJ200s to meet the restrictions for 50 seat aircraft. Endeavor and SkyWest will both experience some growth by gaining 70/76 seat aircraft and Expressjet is shrinking in order for the growth at the other two carriers to happen.
