Congress would be empowered to stop it if it were threatening the free flow of goods. All theoretical though as no state would do this.

Trump (like him or not) is doing exactly what the constitution requires of him. Consulting with experts, getting out information, and assisting governors with needs and resources.
The Commerce Clause has very broad implications, and I think you don't truly understand those.

"The Commerce Clause is the source of federal drug prohibition laws under the Controlled Substances Act. In a 2005 medical marijuana case, Gonzales v. Raich, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the argument that the ban on growing medical marijuana for personal use exceeded the powers of Congress under the Commerce Clause. Even if no goods were sold or transported across state lines, the Court found that there could be an indirect effect on interstate commerce and relied heavily on a New Deal case, Wickard v. Filburn, which held that the government may regulate personal cultivation and consumption of crops because the aggregate effect of individual consumption could have an indirect effect on interstate commerce."

This standard could most certainly be applied to congress mandating the use of masks in all commercial establishments because the virus' spread has already significantly affected interstate commerce.

In any case, saying that there is an issue of constitutionality preventing the President from exercising even the most basic level of leadership is ridiculous. This is just the latest excuse in a string of transparent excuses. The man has failed this country and betrayed the constitution (see emoluments clause). Pointing to Trump's incompetency as somehow respecting the constitution is an impressive level of mental gymanstics

So we're going to ignore the increase in suicides and drug overdoses then. Any unknown death above and beyond an average year can only be the Rona.

I figured out what to do....

Survival rate for Covid 19= 0.05%

We're all gonna die.

It's all Trumps fault smart people drank bleach.

Drones are the best

I am so scared, wish I had a basement.

I'm gonna wear goggles and ski gloves. Surgical gloves don't make me feel safe.

I had the a/c ripped out of my truck so Covid doesn't get inside. I recommend you all do the same.

We should all be wearing 3 masks. The best fabric is from Walmart. They have a great selection of life saving curtain fabric. If they run out, women's panties work well too.

My fellow Covid survivors, pray we stay healthy. I'll be praying for you all. I wish I listened to furloughfuntime, Wutface, and Nvrgofullretard... I coughed in public today.. I apologize..

In light of furloughfuntime, nvrgofullreatrd, and Wutface's absolutely astonishing revelations, I've decided to keep each of my kids isolated in their rooms, no school (after all who needs school, we're all gonna die anyhow), we don't go out for groceries and are too afraid now of delivery people so we live off crackers, water and the occasional coconut that falls from the tree out back. I've also banned my kids from talking so they protect the dog, because the dog can spread it to other dogs. We also don't flush toilets anymore, it does get a bit stinky but atleast we won't splash Covid sh!t balls in our faces.

I apologize for not heeding your guys advice earlier. I've seen the light and am a believer. Covid is very very bad.

My point had little to do with the interstate commerce clause and much to do with the intrusion of the federal branches of government into states' rights. For anyone with any common sense to assert that some guy growing pot in his back yard for his own use will, in any way, affect interstate commerce is ludicrous. That does not stop the courts from inserting themselves into the case and asserting a broad interpretation of the commerce clause to achieve their goals.

I am not defending Trump except to the extent that he is respecting states' rights and being skewered for it. The court was also wrong in the Filburn case. It is a basic human right to grow ones own food. Do you believe the court was correct in Dred Scott, Buck vs Bell, Korematsu vs US, Plessy vs Ferguson, etc. The court does get it wrong from time to time.

There is no sense in arguing with hardcore statists. They worship at the altar of interfering with citizens lives (it's for your own good after all).

And they know better than you because they’re smarter than you and know lots of very smart people with lots of very impressive credentials.

Sending kids back to school is just as stupid as Democrats putting Covid patients in nursing homes, killing most of the elderly. The virus has rolled over in the US, we can eradicate it over the next 2-3 months if we keep the school vector in check a bit longer.

As much as I am sad that my school district is not going to be open and my children will be on web based classes I agree with the decision. I do not wish to send my children into the giant petri dish that is an elementary school. We cannot risk children with no symptoms bringing the virus home to Mom, Dad, and Grandma.

Depends on the school situation. Some have cut class size, seperated student desks and supplies, limited handling of paperwork, divided grade levels, restricted hall walking paths, mandated mask wear, limited items brought to and from school, mandated disposable lunch materials, mandated daily temperature checks before entry, and stand ready to isolate and quarantine affected classes as required, with a backup of virtual learning courseware. At home the kids are washed up, masks cleaned, and some measure of reasonable social distancing is maintained in the home. Personal drinking cups assigned, frequent hand washing, and strict sneezing protocols are demanded! Grandma gets left alone more than she would like, but she knows we love her. We sent the kids to the pre-school and kindergarten Petri dishes when they were young, precisely to help their immune systems develop resistance. Trying to be smart about it and pray for the best. Hiding in the closet for the next two years is not sustainable. Good luck and good health to all of you in your own situations.

And with all that, if Covid gets into the cafeteria, and it will, half the school will get sick. This has to be treated like as a Noro outbreak. https://www.cdc.gov/norovirus/trends...e...%20More%20
