Welp, the "You'll be junior forever and never touch a GS" theory went out the window quickly

That one GS can buy several European vacays where you're not restricted to 24-48 hours a visit.

Hmm.....haven't been on reserve in 9 years so don't remember how it works but I have 1 reserve day tomorrow then 3 off days. If I try to fly on the off days is that just a yellow slip or can I parlay that into a green? (Currently 80 hours for the month, 88A)

Looking in the PWA now.....

Y is straight credit toward guarantee with no payback days. G gets you straight pay above guarantee plus payback days. Not a subtle difference.

No argument. But he is already full at 80 hours. PB days are huge. Getting Y is easy. G may be harder. So if the goal is more cash....

Thanks. I'm up on the pros/cons of each, just wasn't sure what the effect res vs line holder made wrt to GS pay trigger. And if I could even get a GS on reserve. Thankfully hadn't been an issue for a while.

Thanks all!

One more thing, no gs trigger on res.

You could not fly on every res day (unlikely on 88). GS on x day and it still pays the same.

If you are on reserve for any period of time, you will learn the term Rolling Thunder. GS on your X days, get your days off moved to reduce on call days and keep your reserve guarantee. It's how you get 160 hours pay on reserve, but only fly 80.

If you have already met the guarantee, the only difference between a YS and a GS is the payback days. If you are junior and cant get a GS, go for it.
