How is a buddy bid drop with pay accomplished? The mechanics...

He’s talking about buddy bidding with check airmen and then getting bought off to pick up whatever trips he wants.

Ah, okay. Thanks. That can be done at a few other places as well...

Just experienced all of the “joys” this thread is talking about. It’s a long story, but let’s just say me and another pilot will never extend our duty day ever again. This optimizing everyone’s schedule practice is going to bring our operation to a slow crawl if they continue this bs.

It's VFR across the country. The struggle is still real out there?

Will never happen. The vast majority of pilots extend their duty day, and are glad to do it. I do not see that changing. I've personally seen on a few occasions where the pilot I was flying with extended and I did not. Both times the other pilot said it's too much paperwork and talking on the phone. Crew tracking, duty pilot, chief pilot calls, and FCR must be submitted. The intimidation factor is too high for most.

We’re flying VFR now? I know the FOM does not prohibit it, but that came fast!
Makes sense to do that, seeing as how we can pretty much throw EDCTs out the window if we operate under VFR.
Perfect for the go home leg!!!

I like to learn from the experiences of others. I've never been asked to extend and don't expect I'll try doing so.

Day late and a dollar short, I know but help me out here...How was it self induced to any degree by the OCC? Not the idea people, just the poor saps that have to carry out the directive and get crushed if they cant people. 100% of it is induced by mahogany row...

At least on the bus, there are still massive amounts of open time each day for the next 2 weeks. I've seen GS #5 in ATL...

Yup.

I don’t do extensions anymore, either. The best that will come of it is that you get to your destination late and without needing to file an ASAP. It’s all down hill from there.
