0656 27 Jul NYC if anyone wants to check its legality.

I'm at an Iron Maiden concert tonight so I'm probably not in the best place to try to talk to skeds

Do you want accidents...because this is how you get accidents.

No thanks. Not unless you want to pay me premium pay while deadheading on a flight with a tired crew who are trying to pay some extra bills. I don't want to incentivize flying tired or sick, myself.

United has this in their contract. I don't see their planes falling out of the sky

Have you talked to your UAL buddies about it? I believe that this has very specific language that mostly impacts international guys. If I understand it correctly, it's only applicable on duty periods with one leg. EG...DTW-ATH but not DTW-ATL-ORD-ATL. An example was given...crew signs in for DTW-AMS but mx just found an issue and it's going to be hours before it's fixed. They would get 5 hours of pay if they extend their duty day to wait around for it to be fixed then fly the leg into an extension. A buddy said he's also heard of guys getting it on redeyes from HI or AK. Maybe a UAL guy will come along and correct me.

Bottom line, their rules wouldn't impact a vast majority of our extensions, and I wouldn't want to entice guys to extend because of the money...because they will. Along the same lines, I hope we never have the ability to sell our vacation (any more than we already can).
