Standing by for the ‘why should we be expected to do someone else’s job’ crowd to chime in. I’m more about the results than the way it’s achieved.
This is good work. Even just shutting the sunny side shades makes a huge difference.

Me and the family were on an originator last week. We got on and there was no air flowing from APU or jetway AC. It was 20-25c, humidity was 70%, and all 180 seats were occupied. Had one daughter dry-heaving while we sat there for another 30 min before pushing back. The FA’s knew this was going on. The fight deck door never opened while pax were on board, and the flight crew only made the standard PAs. appears to be spot on.

3. That guaranteed seat needs to be automatic, no 10-step process to book my seat. I show up and with zero input and I board my DH in my preferred seat

4. I'm sure there are a few who are APU misers but my guess is most captains; at least out of self preservation, are trying to keep the planes cool. My last trip we had warm planes on every leg and there wasn't a thing I could do about it. Ran the APU non-stop, sometimes had air and sometimes didn't, but the cabins heated up to the low 80s regardless of my efforts to keep them cool. Our external cooling equipment is garbage. One station I spoke with the station manager about his cooling hose with a nice 3" hole right next to the air attachment point. Other stations get the infamous sausage hose.
Good suggestion above to remind FAs to ask the PAX to pull down the window shades, I'll add that to my brief.
The MDs simply suck at customer comfort, a big part of which is the cooling capability. Flew on a AA E170 (one of their regionals) a while back and not only was the apu running at the gate (only 80 degrees outside), the cabin was nice and cold. Didn’t hurt that the windows were nice and big and appropriately placed and the coach seating had a ton of legroom. It felt sudo F. The overall experience was fantastic. In fact I felt it better in coach than in F on the 757 or md fleet.

i actually don't think that's it at all. I think a lot of guys are honestly completely oblivious to what's going on in the back.

I'd ride coach in the Ejets over anything else we have in coach

I had a bad experience with a 757 flight out of pbi to atlanta. Apu was started after doors were closed for push, shut down apu as soon as hooked up at the gate. People were groaning in the back, FO stood at the door, didnt care when people said it was hot, just said that's because the APU was off.

76F. Max. On 321s ground air can easily go into the 90s so the APU starts right before they board and stays on until after push. Works great. It's been since my 88 days that someone said hold off on apu.

Is this better? They’re in control of and responsible for passengers’ experiences on a given flight. If they want to switch their brains to STBY and remain oblivious to passenger comfort, they’re in the wrong segment. I hear Brown and Purple are hiring.

And supercool upon landing. And when you first start the APU at the gate.
If you're going to run it, run it full cold.

'Cause it feels good.

I just find this hard to believe.....

Anyone who has been flying here a few years KNOWS (or should know) how stiflingly hot it can get in an aluminum tube...
