Dude. No one is saying that JV’s are a bad thing. We just want an EQUAL percentage of growth on our big equipment.
If KAL or WestJet buys six 787’s, we should be purchasing 24 of them (we’re 4x their size). We want equal growth (percentage-wise) on big equipment. Help both pilot groups equally (not DISproportionally, as is DAL’s current practice).
How does this not resonate with one of our own!?!

When you don't have a fundamental understanding of airline economics and the status of yields in certain theatres you will get your clock cleaned by management everytime. If you want to beat management you have to be able to think and act like them. When you start of a debate with "dude" it shows you're more in tune with emotion vs the realities of the airline business

Excellent move by Delta. South Korea is a strong emerging market that is technologically advanced. Korean Airlines is one of the premier companies in that economy. Significant benefits for Delta and Delta shareholders, customers and employees leveraging that partnership even more.

Just because another carrier is renewing their fleet on a different schedule does not mean Delta should. Korean's aircraft purchase was largely replacements for older aircraft. How about the distruction of our quality of life? It that awesome dude?
Now it’s a regular thing to have rotations that include a deadhead before, within and after an ocean crossing.
Trip how does that affect our level of safety?
I just flew from London to Atlanta then deadheaded to EWR then an hour to hotel arriving after midnight. Then back to London at 11pm. I’m sick now. It just about killed this old man.
Is this good business?

I think you show you're more in tune with your inner cheerleader whenever you post. If you were basing everything on realities, you wouldn’t be able to constantly defend the company against any negative brought up in posts. The reality is that management does a lot well but pilots also have reasonable complaints and wishes when it comes to protecting our livelihood and future.
Realities? Here is the genesis of this thread. 2500 block hours USA-Japan are not coming back and neither is the Narita Hub. Unfortunately, an agreement is an agreement is not the solution. Attack my philosophy all you want on that but that is Reality

Some of us have MBA’s and have participated in actual managerial decision making in our past (and present) lives. We understand “growth,” vs fleet renewal plans, and their differences.
You, on the other hand, aspire to be management and have been an airline pilot since college. This isn’t a knock on you, but just understand that some of us have WAY more experience than you can tell from an online forum.
The difference between us is that I actually know who you are. I’ve been told by actual members of our management (and recruitment) teams about you, and I’m not impressed.
Just because you can parrot the company line, doesn’t make you intelligent. It makes you a yes man, which doesn’t improve our airline. It just promotes group-think.

As someone who went thru some silly trips this summer I agree that the company has gone overboard on the optimizer. Seems every 5 years or so they try to power thru a summer with DL reduced staffing and Greenslips. Then weather shows up

Thankfully most of us here understand that, as was highlighted in this thread.
