Yeah well it’s not your bank account that is the problem. Once this thing drags on the company will start putting out memo’s saying basically your raises are on hold until we see how much we have to pay the greedy old pilots. It makes coming to work a miserable experience.

The a350 captain green slip party that occurred for a few months earlier this year and the pilots making statements that several captains were going to make “a million” dollars this year will definitely hurt us. First off, if you run the numbers I really don’t think any pilots made a million dollars but if they did, it was a very small few. The problem is that so many flight attendants and other employees think it’s true and paint all of us pilots as making that kind of money. No employees at this company will have any sympathy for the pilots if negotiations drag on.

Dispatch is the canary in the coal mine, they've been in negotiations for quite some time with no progress.
There are employees who are pleasant to work with and employees who are not. Some memo from the company isn't going to make much of a dent either way in their individual thinking. Perhaps your plane is different, but my interaction with my fellow employees save for my FO is usually limited to an FA brief and small talk. If it is reduced to a brief then whatever. We work on opposite sides of a blast-proof door, we're on separate rotations, and even if we layover in the same city we're often going to separate hotels. The problem is weak willed pilots who let these junior varsity tactics have some effect on what they're willing to accept come vote time, not the memos or what other employees think of us.
The lion doesn't concern himself with the opinion of the sheep. We know the truth; if a fellow employee actually wants to know what's really happening I'm happy to have a discussion. Most just want to extend their SM posturing into some quick sound byte and don't care one bit about the truth, I have no time for the likes of them.

I will agree and disagree. I would venture a guess you weren't around during C2K. Although not as easy now that we can follow along on your phone, you would mysteriously not make a flight as a nonrev and you sure as hell didn't tag your work bag and walk it down to the bin. Kit bags would end up in Africa some how. I couldn't wait for it to be over.
. This attitude is why they walk all over us.
