Of course I agree 100% that the flying should be brought back in house but that’s a sub-narrative to the discussion of a contractor trying to call shots.
If you had a lawn service contractor you hired to mow your grass would you want them cutting out your trees and bushes just because they didn’t like them and made their job harder?

This isn't the contractor trying to call the shots. This is the pilots controlling their own jumpseat.

The change is the jumpseat priority on UAL mainline, and United Express-Exclusive (UAX-E)* carrier flights. All UAX-E carriers have agreed to the changes.
Skywest, Republic, Mesa, and GoJets are non-exclusive UAX carriers. They fly for UAL as well as other airlines. Their priority for the pilot jumpseat on UAL and UAX-E flights has been reduced below that of UAL and UAX-E pilots.
GoJets has agreed to the new systems so they are categorized below UAL/UAX-E pilots on UAL/UAX-E flights and above other non-exclusive UAX pilots and OAL pilots. Skywest, Republic, and Mesa can move up to the same category as GoJets if their managements sign the new agreement with UAL management. Until then, they are grouped with OAL pilots.
The non-exclusive UAX pilots are losing something that they once had. I understand why they don't like it. I don't think a jumpseat war is the best way to express their displeasure.
*UAX-E carriers are Air Wisconsin, ExpressJet, Commutair, and Trans States.

The pilot jumpseat priority is not changing for Skywest, Republic, GoJet, or Mesa flights.

The non-exclusive are losing something they should never have had. In the Great republic-american war I started of in the republic side, mostly because aa signed a priority order, and apparently for years didn't follow it. Having said that, skywest flies for 4 legacy carriers, and getting priority over OAL on all 4 is asinine. Either you pick one or you get none.

My wife was non exclusive regional, still miss having both DL and UA priority for non-rev. It's a smart business model for the company, still a stepping stone for the pilots. Getting JS priority on every legacy pax carrier: not even a discussion.

So yesterday I tried to JS to work on a Delta Connection flight operated by Skywest. When I advised the CA that his actions are harmful to the industry and can hurt people, he told me to "Shove it up my ass" in a loud voice in front of Delta Air Lines passengers and then stormed off to the back of the plane.
After flying in the Delta Connection system for over 7 years, I've never seen someone as unprofessional as that before. Little things like that can hurt the Delta brand and image as a front line employee.

So did you get the JS? Did he fly the plane from the back. I would certainly report this through the DALPA JS coordinator.
