I’ve heard similar things about the 320-330 transition. Sucks it’s a two year commitment now, but a buddy of mine who did it a few years back said it was a challenging course. Even with his 320 time and knowledge.

it isnt difficult at ALL......I mean......there’s hardly anything different about it. It’s bigger, few more systems. The hardest part is the Int’l stuff if you’ve never flown over the water......you get all that on TOE. Boom done.

So you went through the transition training program?

No, I didn't come from the 320 to the 330. My feeling was that Delta inherited the NWA 330 program, which was probably fine when taught after a lengthy in-classroom ground school. Well, Delta changed that to self-study so you don't get as much knowledge.

Then, over the years, the FAA requires airlines to add this or that to the sim training. So the company thought, "Ok, we'll shove that in this sim lesson because we have 10 extra minutes here. And put that over there because there is 15 minutes free."

In the end, an overloaded, out of sequence training program that wasn't done very well. I haven't run into a 330 pilot that thought it was a decent training program. I've been through half a dozen long courses in my career (here and elsewhere) and this was by far the worse.

From what I’ve heard it was the 330->350 short course that resulted in a lot of failures and thus gave the 350 training a rough start. Heard the 320->330 is much easier though. Still nothing beats the 320 training program. It’s the country club of the fleets. 😂

Anyone flown the 767-400 and A330? What’s your preference?

I went from 7ER A to 330 A, the schoolhouse course wasn't great but I made it just fine.

I have a friend on the 400. She hasn’t flown the 330, but loves life as a NYC 765B.
I asked if she was gonna upgrade to NB A, and she said HELL NO
