I see this mentioned quite a bit as if we only see through rose colored glasses. Remember those same folks this refers to (myself included) remember the bad old times long before we got here and were likely a part of the lost decade. In fact, I hear more captains tell me "your career is gonna be great!", but I always respond with a cautious "I hope so but we all know poop happens".

And it has once again.

VLOA vs MLOA has benefits ramifications. Just wondering what the historical precedent is.
Unknown, but I've read that SWA just extended to their mil guys the benefit of taking long term mloa without it being counted against their USERRA time. Here's hoping Delta does the same. I'd want documentation of it from the company and I'd dabg sure keep very thorough records on it.

Right, that's why I added the caveat. Just relaying what I saw happen in the mid-2000s, and that was guys come back after furlough, then later ended up taking 5 years of mloa. Call that dude, the DOL, ESGR, or whomever you wish to verify. I don't plan on it ever being an issue since I don't care to go back full time unless there are no other options.

I hope you are wrong on your assessment and I hope we don't furlough a soul. I know first hand how it can change your opinion of your management and union. If we do furlough we need to immediately vote to pay for COBRA for all furloughee's. The next month will be interesting to say the least.
Probably not true, most people lived through 2008 and age 65 in one job or another. The majority of people were probably already working in the airline industry, so sure, they weren't at Delta but this is a ridiculous statement to make. Look at the hiring stats (regional vs. military) and the average age of a new hire. The majority of people hired during the last few years of the good times also spent most of their career when career progression was in the dumper so they are well aware of the ups/downs of this industry.

They used to be illegal, as the .gov classified them as fraud. So they bought shares back at the all time high, and now they plan a possible re-issue, but at a significant discount. That is absolutely fraud.

I'm all in favor of lower corporate taxes, but there needs to be a crushing tax on this nonsense. Maybe even CBA language that says for every dollar of burnbacks we get 10. This absolutely has to stop and if it doesn't the blowback they will get during the next political cycle will blow away anything they ever thought they'd ever gain from doing that in the first place.

per my friend in exactly this situation, they were given the option to show up or be first to get a class later. A classy way to handle it, imo

Again, besides paying you absurds amounts of wages of course.....what would you have them do with buckets of free cash pouring into the company coffers which they ultimately don't feel comfortable expanding operations with? When you buyback shares you also spread the dividend going forward over fewer shares which again raises the stock yield. A well run company will do many things with it's extra cash.

So, when they borrow 1B, do they get a little payment book or does it come out of checking electrically?

They should always increase the dividend, and pay down debt obligations.

Because in 2019 they generated 3.9B per month in revenue and spent 3B per month.

If your burning 3B every 30 days and bookings go to the craper it doesn't take long to smoke 5B.
