BTW is the 5 year USSERA limit cumulative or does it reset every time you return from Mil leave?
Cumulative. But really only counts 30 day or greater “long orders”. Most short leaves for training, UTAs, recurrence, etc., are exempt.
SWA exempted mil leaves UFN. The hazard in that is if a service member takes a 3 year AGR tour when already bumping the limit, and then after a year SWA says that the exemption period is over. The service member would likely win that fight if they couldn’t get the order curtailed, but who wants to do that?
Other flip side, perhaps Delta isn’t ready to cut loose too much manning yet. Who knows? Based on recent events, I doubt they are thinking that strategically or holistically about it. I think the only target in front of them is to stop an FA union.

Better than UAL? Sure. Global reserve and airport standby is a non-starter.

Better than AA? Maybe, maybe not. Bet DAL pilots would love AA’s Sick-if-needed provision and lack of a defined call-out time for short call... just like AA pilots would love some of DAL’s reserve rules.

Gotta keep fact-checking the SailingFun half-truths...

Since we know it’s cumulative, then USERRA exemption would help during recovery and others trying to eeek out that last 1-2 years for a full retirement as plenty are so close to a golden egg out there, especially during times like these! Hope that’s considered at some point for ya’ll.

And just think, there is a vaccine and therapeutic drugs for the flu, and we still average 30,000+ deaths per year with tens of millions infected. That’s WITH all the medicine we have for the flu. But that’s ok.

You straight up contradicted yourself, but still continue to double down?

Does anyone actually believe ALVs will magically go back to normal after either 60 or 90 days? Does anyone believe if we take reduced ALVs it will keep X number of guys from getting furloughed. Sounds like “shovel ready jobs” or “jobs saved or created.”

And that is much better than 50 pilots taking unpaid leaves. Management is being stupid right now wrt the pilots.

Reading the last few company memos has been a “shovel ready” job.

We have the exact same shortcall obligation as AA. Sick if needed is nice but we get far more sick leave per year than AA.
