C44 advice is garbage.
its one thing to say “here’s the data, evaluate your seniority, finances, and likelihood of furlough and do what you need to do in your own shoes.”
telling the entire list from 12,000 and below to flee for the hills now (despite no one, not even the company, truly knowing what’s going to happen) is irresponsible.

Huh, I just re read it. That wasn't my take.
If you're in bottom ~2500 the bid states to expect UNA. It seems very pragmatic to prepare for furlough.
That's how I took the bid, and that's how I took 44's statement. What should they have said?

If the belief that furlough is basically assured is shared throughout the entire MEC, it should’ve come from them...not a single council that not every Delta pilot is a member of. In fact, the NYC council will have more pilots impacted from furlough than ATL so it’s just weird in general it came from the latter.

It may not be a shared view, which is exactly why it came from an LEC and not the MEC.

Sometimes leadership is delivering information that nobody wants to hear. The current populist party can’t stomach that, thus the crickets.
If you’re in the bottom half of the seniority list, you should be making preparations. Even more so in the blast zone of the bottom 3k. Nobody likes it but at least 44 is giving it to you straight, unlike this MEC admin that is composed of pretenders that can’t get a meeting with mgmt.
Will the furlough fodder notice that they were left un-represented by the populists? Will they vote for different candidates in the future? Who knows. I do know that you can’t spend 5 years poking your finger in the company’s eye and then suddenly expect them to take us as serious bargaining partners.
Executive inactive anyone? Plastic silverware? Chest thumping, feel good BS so they can feign tough and say they were fighting for you.
The last MEC town hall showcased an out of touch “chairman” (Ryan Schnitzel) who spent his time talking about shelf stable food, and a Negotiating Chairman (Chad Smith) who was unaware that pilots had positive space commuting options made available by the company, without his committee’s participation. He could/would have claimed it as a win had he only been aware. Amateur hour.
We have been rendered irrelevant by a bunch of soft, short term thinkers. They are still pretending that the Schnitzel furloughs aren’t happening rather than engaging on mitigation for our junior pilots. But yeah, 44 reps = surrender monkeys. Cool.

Have you called/emailed the MEC and told them this?
My question is on politics within DALPA and optics. What was the real reason behind C44 memo? Its not leadership from 44, its insubordination. Why nothing from the other councils related to the matter? Its not that they are inferior to 44, as you imply in your tone. My prior exposure with 44 was often asking myself, is this my labor representation or the CPO office?
Again, something else is behind this memo, it had nothing to do with enlightening the junior masses as to a potential furlough - which is exactly what it is right now, potential. the kompany has said nothing official about furloughs. Yet.

They are Covid-19 furloughs, IF they happen. The representatives should be honest about their opinions and that it is opinion based on their information to date. The fact that we have 2800 pilots going into a UNA status speaks for it self. They are unnecessary at this time. The only way to make them necessary is to have more senior pilots retire, that should be the focus.

On Skynet, BS posted a video with some mechanics and a couple of FAQ's.
Brace yourselves, this will be quick, but painful.
