Good news

Not only that, you can’t jump to the conclusion that because someone received more popular votes under the current system, that it would have looked the same. I am sure republican candidates would spend much more time in California and NY if they were just chasing votes instead of states. Minority party voters in any state may be more likely to vote instead of staying home as well.

Vegas gaming industry is planning to reopen June 4th. Probably just a few casinos at first, with masks and all, but maybe now people have a reason to fly there!

The polls were not worthless. The end results were about 2% off from the polls, well within the margin of error. If a poll says someone will win by 4% but the win by 2%, or if it says they will win by 1% and they lose by 1%, it’s still very accurate.
What was worthless was all of the “forecasts” that extrapolated huge probabilities of victory from these polls that were within the margin of error. Princeton said something ridiculous like a 99% chance of victory for Hillary. But Nate Silver got rich and famous in 2008 by being correct so everyone had to follow suit. And FWIW he was actually only predicting a 71% chance of Hillary winning which seems like it was about right given everything we knew.

I think political polls are skewed by the percentage polled that are from each party. IE, if 30% of participants are Republicans, 40% Democrats and 10% independent, I would think the results would be skewed towards the Democratic side.....

No she didn’t. You play sports? Before the whistle you agree to a set of rules. Electoral college is how we elect our President, no one gives a damn about the popular vote. Why? Because California and New York alone would essentially determine the election. Yeah, no thank you. You guys have done enough damage to your states we don’t need you guys to infect the rest of us. Finally, don’t like the system here? Think we have too much “freedom”? Move to a country that suits your needs! No one is stopping you. Heck you guys could probably still commute to your airline job after this C19 shenanigans calms down.

Re: National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.
There's an interesting case being heard on the Supreme Court right now involving "faithless electors" from the previous Turd vs. Turd Sandwich Presidential election. Basically two electors who refused to cast their ballots as directed by their states laws and voted their "conscience".
That's a bellwether case: if the NPVIC gets triggered, get ready for all kinds of craziness. The good news is, it will probably stand a challenge: so unless you live in CA, TX, or NY, (and among those, only in a few cities, really), voting will be a completely pointless act.
Which, it kind of statistically is already.
(I'm just mad because I can't vote for the Very Silly Party)
Great primer on this (non-partisan) here. Highly recommended. Well produced, funny, easy to watch graphics.
