CARES needs Senate participation and approval. And the WH’s and Senate’s top priority just shifted to the Supreme Court. I’d like to wrong, but look at headlines at every major media outlet. This doesn’t mean CARES won’t happen, but I’m expecting CARES to be back burnered for awhile.

I tried finding the original source but was unsuccessful, but this USA Today article mentions a Goldman Sachs estimate that there is only slightly better than a 50% chance of CARES 2 passing by the end of Sept.

50%? That’s higher than I would have thought. Especially now with only 10 days left in the month. The Senate needs to participate in the process, and they’re busy salivating over the Supreme Court vacancy. I’m cautiously optimistic that there will be a CARES 2 that includes airlines. I’m not optimistic it happens prior to November elections. I hope I’m wrong.

So in theory should we have an idea what is offered by the company on Tuesday? will the MEC vote to send it out or not on Tuesday or at a later point in time? Just curious how this all might shake out

One rep said it should be posted on the DALPA site shortly after it's briefed at the meeting.

thanks, I’m curious does that mean they will release it for pilots to view before the MEC votes?

might be so the union can put out info before the town-hall with EB

Not likely, because until the MEC votes on it, it's just a proposal from the NC. If EB talks about it at the town hall, probably just in general terms of "we have a proposal with ALPA now, we think it's great and will help reduce or all of the furloughs. We're still losing money and this is the only way to help the company."

You guys sound like you’re mixing the two “deals” currently on the table. The LOA that has voluntary measures only and saves the additional 220 furloughs is finalized and will get voted on Tuesday and if it passes it will be made available to everyone shortly afterwards. The “big” proposal that saves all furloughs (and probably requires memrat) is getting briefed to the MEC on Tuesday but there’s no actual TA to vote on yet. The details of that probably won’t be released until there’s an actual TA voted on, or unless there’s more attempts to negotiate in public.

The MEC Chair also said the “big” proposal was just that, a proposal. Just like -15% ALV was a proposal. They said they’d look at it and decide what to do with it. Which could be anything from reject it or make a counter. It sure looks like a last minute cram down.

So I guess I’m agreeing with you.

Is the company just throwing hail mary passes hoping the polling data alpa has is wrong? Or are they pretending the company has more credibility than the union when they do this negotiating in public crap?
