Well if the UAL deal is truly as bad as you say it will crash and burn in MEMRAT. You are only looking at the MPG but not factoring in the thousands of displacement cancellations. Hundreds of UAL Pilots will be making Captains pay while potentially flying as FO. Thousands will be working instead of being furloughed. It may not be all good, but it sure as hell aint all bad.
Are we really supposed to lose much sleep over Pilots who base their budgets on PS and GS's?

I heard Delta pulled a bait-and-switch on your SILs. That’s too bad, becauee I’ve been on one since March and learned I actually can live on 50 hours a month.
With this LOA, I’ll be working 11 days a month now on a NB. Sign me up.
I understand why pilots are voting no, but the above are my (selfish) reasons for voting yes.

Were you hired in MSP or ATL? Very different demographics. For example, in my new hire class in 2000 I was the civilian ‘experiment’. Until the 2014 boom Delta new hire classes were overwhelmingly MIL and average age of ~35.

I've seen so many people talk about the hours cuts while ignoring the thousands of displacements that get undone. while not everyone was displaced it certainly affected a huge portion of the pilot group at UAL. Since far fewer DL pilots % wise are under the threat of furlough, a similar plan here should require a lot smaller hours cuts. the way their plan is laid out it seems to make sense to me. we will see when UAL pilots vote on it.

We have had pilots in the past complain that mil pilots exceeded the 5 year limit, locked down a great mil retirement and then bumped them back when they returned. This in part led the company to track the 5 year limit. In addition the company has financial obligations to mil leave pilots that are substantial.
A peson getting bumped is BS....the person on MIL leave is above them on the list whether they are actively flying or not.
The financial obligations are an issue when they return from MIL leave.....if the company doesn't survive until that point, the financial obligation is moo...and they would have paid those financial oligaitons (PS, 401K, etc) even if the peson didn't take MIL leave....so it just changes WHEN they pay them.

It shouldn’t matter. Anyone with the tiniest amount of SA of the industry should know.

Tracking the 5 year limit is kind of a USERRA thing, so....

That's been my experience. Most of the ER captains I foew with were all hired around or before 30, and many were shocked that I wasn't hired at that age since I didn't retire from the military.

USSERA protects your position for a minimum of five years. There are exemptions which provides longer protection. There is no obligation for Delta to remove anyone if they exceed 5 years.

During GWOT it’s very easy to do way more than 5 years anyway. 38 USC spells out the current exemptions quite clearly.
