And the real question is, are we just extending the inevitable? If we just did “what” we could be back to normal? What is our example country of how to get back to normal quickly? (complying with our laws of course) New Zealand probably has the fewest current cases (of a first world country) but they had to lockdown after reopening, still basically have no international travel, and who wants to bet that they are going to be locked back down in a month once they open up travel with Australia?

We all see Fauci and whoever the cable news outlets present to us to push their narrative (much of it to meet a political agenda) but there are renowned scientist that believe we are just extending the misery. Always good to listen to an opposing view...

Maybe they are wrong and it will be worse, but it seems lithe data they present from states and countries that have had minimal lockdowns certainty bolsters their case.

Well by now most of us know people who've had it with no symptoms or had it and completely knocks them off their feet. Its a weird one, but its tough to argue body counts.

 

Sure. I’ve also known people knocked off their feet by the flu, Norovirus, pneumonia, food poisoning, bladder infections, etc. The mortality rate is so low it’s a joke.

 

From Statista website....in 2017 roughly 4 out of 10 people 80 or older die every year. So, with roughly 13 million elderly (80+), you can expect 5.2 million deaths.

So, Is it really "shocking" that 200,000 deaths have occurred due to covid(vast majority 80+)? Were they gonna die anyway?

"Flatten the curve"? .... OR......"Shut it down till infections go to nil"? or..... "Let 'er rip and protect your loved ones if they are at risk"?

 

Well the flu mortality rate is 0.1% of those who get the flu. For Covid the mortality rate is 2% for those who get Covid. Both those numbers a huge oversimplifications but IDK if its quite at joking levels.

Certainly this is a problem where reasonable people can have many viewpoints. Personally I'm a "protect those who need protection" im in my thirties so *makes dismissive hand gesture*.

So Ted....currently the excess mortality rate in the USA is -4% overall and 0% for 18 to 80 yo and -11% for 80 +... Is the negative excess mortality rate because the weak were "culled" a few months early....and virtually very few of the 18-80 have perished? IOW...they were gonna die anyway very shortly anyway?

Total US deaths for 2020 are on pace below 2018 and 2019 deaths. There is little excess mortality attributable to SARS CoV 2. A post panic analysis will likely reveal that death rates dropped for heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc, Those lower rates will be offset by SARS CoV 2. The resulting lower nationwide death rate will be attributable to fewer miles driven...

Every person on this earth will die, you can't prevent that by preventing them from living... Be safe, take precautions, please wear a brain to protect those around you from panic.
