What am I misunderstanding? 17 events a month at 5 hours a month equals 85 hours. And that's the minimum. Throw in a seat filler session or two, and now with instructor GS being offered, and that's some impressive earnings. That's all told to me verbatim from SLIs I've flown with.
I realize that FO SLIs cap out at FO pay (I believe). And I agree that they work hard, very hard...and do a great job!
But I'll admit to not understanding all of it, so please correct any misunderstanding.

you pretty much fixed it there. FOs cap out at FO pay. Instructor GS used to be the great white buffalo, they are happening more frequently but still pretty rare outside of massive IROPs, but at the bottom of the list after in base and paid at the aircraft rate not the instructor rate. There is definitely a lot of money to be made as a SLI, but you have to work your ass off for it. There's no soft money like on the line....and yes there is great QOL with it if you can stomach operating the sim. Going home every night is great, but you end up working more days than on the line--fly months (if they aren't cancelled, my last 2 fly months have been cancelled) are a break from the grind.
Wait, what? It’s been so long since I’ve had one I honestly have no idea. But I really thought the only thing that paid seat rate was QROT?
I kinda think you’d know, but I really thought instructor GS paid SLI rate. Got a reference either way?
No argument with your overall assessment. I really enjoy the job, but I know it will get old at some point.

For clarity, if you can hold Captain anywhere in the system, your pay rate is 350 F/O pay.

Can someone explain the big deal of TOE for the 7ER new hires? I get that TOE relief is a big deal to the company, but it isn't unique to new hires. It doesn't add any more training than a current NB B bidding to the ER. Training days are the same in both instances aren't they?
You’d need to look at the FOM for exact hours/landings, but the footprint is basically a 4-5 day domestic OE trip then at least one over-and-back trip across the pond. Current wait time seems about a month from 44X to OE then another 2-3 months for TOE.

TOE really means “Atlantic Ocean Crossing” haha. There are a few extra procedures and HF radios and CPDLC. Not rocket science, but if you haven’t done oceanic/NATS before it is necessary training.
