Tesla model Y

As far as warranty, it doesn’t affect it. Although most teslas can go 100k-150k miles before needing to do a brake job, as the regen braking puts little to no wear on the brakes. If you use regen braking properly, I doubt you’d need to do the brakes while under warranty unless you drive very aggressively.

Yes you can. The brakes are no different than any other car. They use pads found on many other cars (can’t speak to the performance version). In fact, brake fluid is one of only 3 fluids found in a M3 (brake, battery coolant that is permanent, and washer fluid).

Probably referring to something like this. Like with so many things these days, noble intent outweighs reality.

I looked at the Ford MachE yesterday. Equipped alike with the long range battery it’s about 7-8000 more than the Tesla Y but the current tax credit offsets it. The car was a bit disappointing. The screen interface seemed a poor mans copy of the Tesla and not nearly as intuitive. The cars are the same size but the Tesla seemed roomier especially the back seat. The interior on the Ford did seem to be better overall quality and looked better. The exterior however looked like Tesla built it on contract. There were several fit and alignment issues. Overall the Y would be a easy choice for me over the MachE. Anyone seen a VW ID4 yet?

Sailing, my wife and I looked at a Mach-E yesterday too. Didn’t get to drive it but we sat in it. Whole-heartedly agree with your assessment. Did you figure the X-Plan discount we get with Ford? Nothing special but it helps. The backseat was very tight and my wife is 4’11”. I did not like the Infotainment screen setup compared to Tesla. More that Tesla’s is just much better to me . Haven’s seen the ID-4 yet. I am curious about the Nissan Ariya that will come out later this year.

I watched Doug’s review of the Mach E and at 6’4” he was praising the backseat. Curious where you thought it was tight or is it in comparison to the model Y? Too bad the fit/alignment is poor. I was kinda rooting for this car. Haven’t seen one in person yet.

Sailing, 53x11: Checked on the x-plan and Ford’s MachE discount ranged from $500-1000 depending on trim. I guess it’s so new they aren’t giving the normal, larger discounts. Thanks for the pireps on back seat.... ahem, room.
