It can be confusing. Thats why the mantra is “Bid what you want and want what you bid”.

Don’t bid a plane for specific overnight, places or schedule. Things can change in a blink from
one month to another.

In base seniority is everything, unless you live in base, then bid whatever plane you really want.

There weren’t any unfilled openings there after the last AE. It’ll take more bidding off the top, or growth to the seat to add more back.

If you’re an optimist, you’ll say that we have used 739s hopefully coming, and with 200/month hiring they’ll have to fill in there at some point.

If you’re a pessimist, you’re loading your bid card to 7ER

How long to hold a line on the 7ER in NYC vs the 737 in SEA?

I would expect a LOT more entering Junior to you in anything NYC, especially on the 7ER over the next 6 months. I can’t speak to SEA at all, but if you are making a new-hire like ranking for initial equipment, and a line is the more important than the commute and NYC pain, take the 7ER.

Also keep I mind, you can change bases on your very first AE on the 7ER so long as an opening exists. Good luck.

I agree with Fangs. NYC 7ER would definitely be the play if seniority in category is your goal. However, over the last few years, SEA 73N has been one of the few domestic narrowbody categories where reserve would occasionally go senior to a line. But, that comes with a huge asterisk as there has been a tremendous amount of turnover this past year and the category was significantly expanded on our last AE. Bottom line, I would choose the category that makes the most sense for where you plan on commuting from. Don't choose a cross country commute for some extra seniority.
