yeah no try more like 5 years for the 330 and 8 for the 350. We are definitely not UAL. If you want to fly WB and make WB $ Delta isn't your place. We're a national air line that has some international. If you want to fly for an international airline this isn't the place at the moment. We spent 4.5 billion in the last 4 years to have other airlines fly our international routes.

I agree with this statement! Everyone always make a big deal about filling a WB slot for a new hire when I think it’s an even bigger deal to have a new hire go straight to the left seat and probably more likely. Especially with some of the younger hires we have some of which don’t have any PIC time.

Default Priority

If I want a specific base city, say Seattle, and desire widebody; for ease of changing it later, should I prioritize city or metal first?
I assume it’s easier and quicker to change base than type rating. So….
7ER SEA
7ER LAX
7ER NYC
7ER ATL
XXX SEA
XXX SEA

Is a better plan for the desired pair of 7ER SEA than:
7ER SEA
XXX SEA
XXX SEA
7ER LAX
etc etc

I hope that question/example isn’t too terribly convoluted.
Thanks.

Why is your requirement to be WB? Just curious..

I mean, apparently you have a bit of a hard-on for flying the big jets. If you care more about flying the 757/767 no matter what, then put in your first bid. You’ll be able to transfer to SEA whenever there is a bid after your start date. Just be aware that if your timing stinks it could be up to a year for your transfer to actually take effect (meaning you have to wait several months for there to be a bid then up to 9 months for the company to convert you). If your priority is getting SEA right from the start then put in the second bid you listed. Your ability to bid to a WB is in no way affected by what your initial aircraft assignment is. It is just a matter of having the seniority to hold it (as well as not be under any seat lock).

Put in your first bid. I’ve flown with numerous FO’s on the 7ER over the years who did exactly this. Aircraft first as a priority, then transferred bases as soon as they could. Plus it’ll be so much easier than going to Atlanta twice for training.

When is your class date? There’s an AE announced for early February and then another planned for May. Those would give you the opportunity to move bases. It still could be up to a year after award to move bases, but you wouldn’t have to worry about the 1 or 2 year seat locks blocking you.

Just to temper your expectation, the majority of your “wide body flying” on the 7ER will consist of flying a 767 from SEA to JFK, ATL to LAS, etc. Perhaps some ATL-MCO turns just for fun!

7ER is a fantastic fleet with great captains, but IMHO any trans-oceanic international will go senior for quite a while.

Does anyone have any idea what the most junior people in the class received? I'm a 03XX number so I'd be very close to the plug in the class. Thanks.
