Since reserve coverage is abysmal, it makes more sense to split 4 day trips into three 2 day trips than just build them short in the first place. Bonus points if they’re all green.

That's a great thought and all, but there seems to be no limits on what an OOBGS will fly up here, so many times those trips never get broken up. I'd much rather fly inefficient, broken-up, fly out/DH home style trips, but they're just not that normal of a thing outside of ATL.

I almost don’t fly a trip unless the rotation number starts with a zero. I’ve flown exactly one trip since December 28th that was as originally built and wasn’t on a green slip. I don’t like long trips.

Same, 1-2 days are preferred, 3 days max. I dump/swap/trade trips wherever possible, but it's not always a guarantee once it's on your line. Your technique (a good one) would still be an option if they built even a small percent (say 10%) of 1/2 days into the bid packet.

I’ve had a few stinkers that I was sure I was going to have to buck up and take, but they still eventually disappeared from the swap board. Trash and treasure and all that.

Wondering if NYC 765B might ever get offered to NH in next few months.

I do realize that no one really knows - but this is the inter web - everyone can take a WAG with no repercussions, right? Have at it...

For the ignorant like me, what is the method behind the madness of rotation numbers?

a zero means CS built or split it. They’re usually pretty juicy

The only method I see is that if it starts with a zero it is a broken trip created by scheduling or crew tracking. They are often shorter and have lots of soft credit. They are often sent out on green slips when reserves are exhausted. They are generally the byproduct of either undermanning or over-optimized line construction and tracking having to “run and gun” to make the operation work.

What are the minimum amount of days on a reserve rotation? Is a thur-Sun reserve rotation realistic in Atlanta for a plug. Thanks!
