We have inverse assignments way down on the coverage ladder. IAs are paid double. They are usually soaked up by people who want them because unlike green slips you don’t have to fly a certain number of hours per month at straight pay for them to pay 2x. They also dont count as a GS for our GS leveling mechanism.
If you dont want it, just don’t answer the phone or call them back.

The “golden” day has two main uses. One, as mentioned already, is that if not already used on your last day of reserve, you are automatically released at 1200 prior going into a golden day. The second is they absolutely cannot originally assign you a trip longer than your reserve period if the day following it is “golden”. (This is pretty rare anyway, but is black and white if golden follows a reserve period).
There is a third use of lesser value. If already on a trip, they are supposed to exhaust every other option before rerouting you into a golden day. However, the Crew Trackers can’t “see” golden days in their system, so you have to call them to tell them. In the heat of battle, you may not be able to get ahold of them, or they may not have time to do anything about it. So, yeah…

For reference, peak coverage for NYC 320B in April was like 40%. May is maybe 85% a couple days.

To clarify about Golden X days…
You can be flown into them. My best friend had it happen last year. The contract says CS will make every attempt not to (or something like that).
he called them. they said, we’ve “made every attempt not to”, but you are it.
again, EXTREMELY rare though. When I bid reserve, I would always put them after on-call string, so if I wasn’t used on last day I got done early

If you get awarded xxx at indoc, can you change before type specific training starts? Or do you have what you got, 2 yr seat lock (except upgrade and maybe 7ER to 765)

Two year seat lock. Unless you’re upgrading or unless you want to bid to to a base that doesn’t fly your plane (e.g you get awarded 220 SEA out of new hire training but then want to bid to any ATL fleet in Atlanta because ATL doesn’t have the 220) I’m which case your seat lock is only 1 year.
