They are reserve days that have an asterisk on them on your schedule. Beyond that, they are basically just like regular Reserve days.

They're off days, not reserve days.

The real meaning of them is that it is a day off that you cannot be inverse assigned to a trip. In reality, nobody seems to be working on days off unless they want to (edit: except for the reroutes) and it just means you have fewer phone calls to ignore, even in the current staffing environment…subject to change of course.

They can extend a reserve pilot by issuing a trip that starts on a reserve day and goes into a day off, but it's uncommon. Normally you are released at noon on your last day unless on short call even without a golden day after.
