The 767 count is more important from the standpoint of replacement. There's no NMA, so they can only be replaced with 787s and 330s respectively. I think UA probably replaces them faster while we get inadvertent growth. They seem to buy a replacement and retire the old plane while we tend to buy a replacement and then, network comes up with something else they want to do with the old plane until a black swan hits.

He is a excel nerd and just did a ratio based block hours and/or number of 756 vs 7ER, or something like that. My careometer was pretty low as we were both hired around the same time and we both had a static projection to WB A about the same time. I actually made it to a WB B slightly ahead of him, but that was luck/timing more than anything. They'll always beat us on those spots because they just have so many more WB's. I'm not sure our 2/2 vs 1/3 is as much of a factor as how much they use their WBs on domestic flying. That impacts the CA/FO staffing a fair amount.

Those numbers have probably changed a bit as this was many years ago now, and I never cared enough to update it. As it turns out, I'm much happier on the 717, so it's mostly moo point for this guy. Nearly everyone above me is riding this jet into the boneyard or retirement, so it won't help me much for now lol.

For the 717, see "buy a replacement and then, network comes up with something else they want to do".

For the people that have received CJO’s the past couple months have any of you received anything from Sterling yet? I haven’t, and I’m sure it’s because they told us “Q3 26” and the backgrounds checks are good for only 6 months. Just want to make sure I’m in the same boat with everyone else. Thanks.

I received a CJO early March. I have reached out to the folks at Pilot Onboarding about having not received the email from Sterling for the background check. They said that will come once they intend to resume classes. I haven’t heard any time frame on when that may be.

Question:

Is Delta currently hiring pilots?

Answer:

Delta has hired hundreds of pilots in 2025 and will continue to hire based on operational needs going forward. Right now, we are fully staffed to support our operation headed into the second half of 2025 and will reevaluate our staffing plans this fall for 2026. We look forward to welcoming many more pilots to the Delta flight deck in the future. To be considered, pilots must have an application on file via:

I can’t speak for other fleets but I assure you the 320 fleet in most bases is not “fully staffed”.

same goes for the 737. But, I do believe block hours are dropping in the fall, so it’ll probably balance back out.

Yeah..it seems like Delta likes to squeeze as much out of us in the summers, then be a bit fat in the winters. Not mad about it though. Once you realize that's the way we operate it's easy to structure your life around making bank in the summer and taking it easy in the winter (unless you have kids, but who has kids?!).
