exactly. “fully staffed” has a different meaning to everyone, and definitely to the company.
if we are one reserve into blue territory all month at 0659 on the 20th, are we “fully staffed?”
at 0715 on the 20th when people have dropped trips and put us all black again, are we “understaffed?”
is “fully staffed” determined by the ability of anyone and everyone to drop any trip they see fit?
arbitrary indeed, which is why i asked what it means to the person who said it first

The “required staffing levels” are completely separate, and are calculated using the formula in 22.C.

FIFY PWA mins are not adequate staffing but rather a contractual minimum they cannot go below (theoretically, or until an arbitrator says they can) Adequate would be reserves required at the start of each month. The drops and swaps prior have no bearing because they have protection built in to prevent them getting below required numbers.

Are the iCrew reserve levels not calculated on the formula in the PWA? Honest question.
On a related note, we're already seeing the cracks in the system for the summer. Reroutes, tracking not being able to figure out who is where, flights with missing pilots (and FAs for that matter), 2 hours on hold trying to figure out what's going on, etc. I can't imagine that, A: more staffing wouldn't help this. They're constantly robbing Peter to pay Paul.

If Delta would spend a few $ on properly staffing CS, they could save more $$$ on pilot labor. It's both sad and humerous when they continue shooting themselves in the foot by understaffing CS with inexperienced schedulers. The money CS "saves" with overworked newbies pays handsomely on the 15th every month

No kidding. Show up for a GS that is DH then operate return. Plane has a crew that operated to outstation and now DH back to ATL. So the company paid for CA/FO GS that wasn't required and even after finding different way to staff it, they coulda no-opd the GS and saved 1/2 the pay, but who am i to tell scheds how to run the show.
