I wouldn’t worry too much about bidding for a specific airplane; prioritize the quality of life that suits you best. Airplanes come and go, and routes can change from month to month. Ultimately, whether you're flying a 320 or a 717, the job remains the same. If you have the luxury of bidding on both base and aircraft that fit your QOL, that's great! Just be cautious about focusing solely on an aircraft when bidding.

I don't think I would recommend 7ER if you know you're gonna need to change bases, much better chance with the 320 or 73N. Ordinarily 220 (assuming it has a base where you want) but as they staff up MSP, that might not be as reliable either.

But you can change bases practically on a whim, changing planes take much much longer, and big events where they specific bases open and close do not happen very often.

I don’t want to be that guy, but most folks hired last year were stuck in their assigned base for most of the year. It is not a given to get an instant base transfer here, especially if (when) management decides to just play staffing games. I hope it is much more fluid moving forward.

Whoa whoa whoa, those were the centennial games. Did you know it was our 100th and we were…the…first…airline??? Paralysis on our careers and base transfers was ok because we were gonna make record profits. Dear leader had our best interests in mind.

a lot of people got stuck in NYC for the summer flying on the ER.. people are just now able to get back out of NYC. I would avoid the ER if you’re a new hire due to seniority movement being 0

Keep in mind, this trend of monthly AEs is fairly recent (within the last 2 years). Before that, we would go months without one. While it seems to be FOPs go-to right now, don’t assume it will always be this way.

Valid, but... They have repeatedly said they greatly prefer this monthly AE, and the flexibility it provides.

But yes, there are no guarantees it won't ever change, much less PWA protections.

Plan your commute (that we won’t let you transfer out of) accordingly! Congrats new hires. Even with stagnant times, it’s been great.

I'll be that guy. 9 months "stuck" in a base as a NH is't that long. Not long ago we had essentially quarterly AEs. Before that we had years of stagnation. Just a little perspective. Feel free to pile on the old man insensitivity charade.
