I’m finding these conversations super helpful. Both here and in the AE thread. Looking for advice.
Starting 24 Feb and on the fence of what to bid.
I’ll be a commuter. Wanted the 75ER but some of the info here and a mentor has led me to now favor the 320. Wanting ATL asap for when we relocate down south from the NE.
Long term plan is to relocate to Florida (18 months from now). Yes I know commuting sucks and if we hate it PTC is always on the table.
Ideally looking for a platform that’s easy to commute and shorter legs (1-2 time zones). Currently Air Force heavy driver and I’ve had enough of Europe and 8-12 hour flights for the next decade.
I don’t know what I don’t know but this forum has been super helpful.
Any input is appreciated.

Regarding your aircraft of choice, it really just depends on what you want. If not flying to Europe for the next decade is priority number one, then 320/737 should be high on your list. If you want an option, 7ER depending on base and seniority should have a mix of 757 domestic, 767 domestic and 767 international.

If you are looking for shorter legs in one to two time zones and commutable trips, the 717 would be my recommendation. You will get the best bang for your buck on the 717, along with commutable trips. I know a few FOs who are less than a year on property with commutable lines, and they commute from FL to ATL.

Shorter legs and 1-2 time zones, 717 any day, twice on Sunday, but getting to ATL quickly may be an issue. Feel free to PM if you have specific questions.

Congrats, you'll get all the 3+ leg days on the 319/320 that stay within 2.5 hours of ATL. It's the 717 higher pay, upward mobility because it's a growing fleet and creature comforts. Just bid to avoid the 321/NEO and you'll be happier than a pig in ****.

I say go 320, and just be junior.

Just curious, why stay away from the 321neo? Because of the longer legs?

Yeah, just in that sense. I almost never see flights under 2.5 on the NEO. Maybe the occasional ATL-BOS. The way things are at this moment, the bus is picking up a noticeable amount of slack from the 717 (hello GNV and GSO).
