I don't think it's fair to attribute this solely to learning in glass cockpit aircraft. The reality is that, as someone who prefers not to fly the 737 (I'm over 35), my concerns aren’t about the avionics or the flying itself. It’s really about the comfort in the cockpit. On transcon flights, the cramped space makes it difficult to get up and stretch or even find a comfortable position. The Airbus, the ER, and the 220 provide much greater comfort.

Not sure current bid packs but when I was a NYC 320A It was about 50% LGA, 40% JFK, 10% EWR

Attention children of the magenta line: every 737 has glass, a hud, a VSD and RNAV/VNAV. That is all.

... and an overhead panel designed in 1960. Just saying

*said by someone who flew the MD-88, with an overhead panel (and center console, and bleed system, and compass mirror) designed at the same time.

Keep in mind, these numbers are subject to change daily. Traditionally, during typical hiring years, we tend not to hire much in the summer, as we are short-staffed and the instructors come back to the line. However, if the need for additional hires arises, I expect there may be some early fall classes as well.
Helpful info, thank you!

When I was in flight school we did all of our cross countries in non-GPS aircraft, did NDB approaches and holds, and partial panel LOC BC approaches. Guess what, nobody uses that crap anymore because it’s outdated.

Some of y’all have a holier-than-thou nostalgic attitude toward tech in the aircraft. Get with the times gramps. No reason to make this job harder than it needs to be.

The 737 is pretty easy but if you don’t want to fly it because you think you’re going to have to hand prop it, your wrong.

Ok I will own my poor wording. I agree. By “glass” I meant the expectation of top of the line/comfort/ease. The young pilot mind cannot fathom the 737 flight deck/overhead/overall tank feeling.

Ok, I don't like the 737 because it's antiquated. BUT, it is not hard to learn or get used to. It's really not that different or big of a deal to where you want to avoid it like the plague, This is some serious unnecessary cowardice.

Though there is a good point that it is cramped.
