Talk to pilots you know here. Ask their personal advice. Deltanet is another resource you will have access to a couple weeks before indoc. Plenty of good advice in the last 10 or so posts as well. Good luck and welcome!

I've been in the same category for 4+ years, and a large majority of greenies go out during holidays or weekends, which is exactly when said noob is already on a RES on call day.

For those not familiar with how DL greenslips go out, the big picture is you can't get a 2nd one unless everyone junior to you who was eligible / available on that day got their 1st. So a senior guy getting a 2nd GS doesn't mean everyone junior to them in the entire category already has 1 greenslip.
There are multiple GS dropping just about everyday on the 7ER in all bases. It's not just holidays and weekends. Go scroll thru the last couple months of trip coverage. It's been that way since covid began and they shut down MSP. I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Thanks.
don't base your bids on what delta is saying about retirements. They rarely hold true and last longer than expected. 763ER's were suppose to be 2025, now it's 2030 on a latest base visit. 717 is GROWING next year in airplanes, lol. From laughter himself on a townhall talking about how it's going to be around a lot longer than people expect.

Bud what you want, want what you bid. Don't try to game it around retirements because you will make poor regretful decisions as management likely keeps the birds longer than you thought. If they're making money and filling seats they aren't going to dump them. Let's be honest the replacements for 767 aren't here and using a 220 to fill all the 717 routes would be a waste for that airplane. So they aren't in any rush to dump these airplanes because they're "old". We have older 320's in the fleet lol.

767-300s are still slated for 2025ish retirement per the last base and standards meetings. 757s through end of decade

not sure if it will happen, but the messaging is still consistent

not quite. The last base visit said the 767s are now looking to stick around to the end of the decade, switching to primarily domestic around 2025 as more 330/350s arrive.

Yes they are, with slight adjustments to the footprint.

my guess is they will hold onto the unfilled positions and post them in the next bid (Jan/Feb I’m told).

Not only that, if airplane deliveries slow down any or Covid 2.0 (or whatever) happens, they will be around long after they say right now. As previously said, those planes are paid for, and if they make money they are flying. Even EB said something on a recent TH about them being around longer.
