I haven’t heard any firm numbers, but they talk about hiring ~200 per month “indefinitely”…

We haven't heard anything about after next summer, but the general consensus is with all the aircraft deliveries, we're going to have to hire continually for a while. I would guess 1,000ish for all of 2022, if I had to pick a number. Starting Jan 1st, they are changing around the sim times to allow for more 20% more training per day, sooo...
JL had said in multiple skynet townhalls earlier this year they think it will be closer to 1800 by next summer, including the ~500 we've already. Sounds like 200/month for the foreseeable future.

How do most people carry their documents while at the interview? Is a black backpack with all of my logbooks and documents appropriate? Thanks.

It will be fine. You literally take the documents out and put your bag in a storage area for the entirety of the day.

Once you get past the interview and PARB (for those that got put into it), are you effectively in the pilot pool while doing the background check? In other words, are you “good to go” or is there something else to look out for?

Just wondering if I need to be concerned of extended time waiting for a class date and not knowing what my background check status is.

The PARB and background check are completely unrelated to each other. Sounds like the background check company can be a tad disorganized and plus depending on peoples previous employment history it can take some time to get all that stuff done. Sounds like several people have had success contacting the background check company directly trying to see what the holdup is.

nothing is official obviously, but rumblings from a friend in the training department said they want to hire 200+ for 20 consecutive months. Furthermore, the number of qualified applicants has dwindled across ALL airlines, not just us. Not sure what's going to happen.

4,000 new pilots would be massive. But sounds like what we need if we want to get back to our 2019 size plus a little. Regionals are gonna start hurting bad, which I think will cause more flying to shift to us which would continue to perpetuate the RJ pilot pay induced shortage. IMO.

wildcard is gonna be when EAS start canceling flights to rural cities with powerful congressmen will there be pressure to roll back the ATP rule

Any idea how long the wait in the new hire pool is? I have a class starting at U soon.
