From Pilot hiring telling me my buddy opted to go to United after having a Delta CJO. Basically stated it doesn’t look go on me to recommend someone who chose to go else where.

I’ve had 4 buddies get CJOs with Delta in the last few months. All of them went to United or FedEx. Only the most recent sparked an email.

That's hilarious that they actually sent you an email.

You should reply that it's more on Delta, than it is you... Lol, ya sorry Mr DAL man, my buddy that lives in Denver decided UAL would be a better fit...big surprise.

That is crazy, someone took the time to find you wrote a recommendation for them and then took the time to write you an email? Borderline harassment and just plain ridiculous really. So they weren’t going to get the job if you didn't write them a letter? I find that hard to believe. Very vindicate.

What is the end game of this email? To get you NOT to recommend folks who are obviously qualified, or they wouldn't be going to the other carriers? That'll sure help our staffing problem. Just idiots blaming others. Again.

The ones I wrote letters for wanted DL bad. Back in 2014-15 and even at the beginning of this wave. They never heard anything. They won't be going now. Oh well.

That same time frame I was in the process of writing a letter when the guy said don't bother, I'm going to UAL. He made captain in EWR quick and hasn't looked back. We lost a good one but I'm happy for him. He had his stuff in for awhile and crickets. He was looking for a way to get noticed so I offered. Just 3 days latter UAL noticed and called. He was in his 40s and a long time RJ driver. Those were the demographics with "baggage" back then was the talk. Now we have the same type of folks flowing up from Endeavor.

None of them left Delta, they just never started with a CJO. Leaving the pool for a bird in hand is not the same as leaving the company for another airline.

I’ve heard many people say onboarding is radio silent if you try to contact them before the background check is complete. While we know it might be a while before we get a class date but would it hurt to email them to let ‘em know we will take the earliest class date to fill in gaps for classes? Not sure how to write the email without rushing them…

Thanks in advance!
I got my CJO on 8/30 as well. I was notified about 10 days ago that my background check was completed and sent to Delta...but haven't heard anything else from Delta. Trying to figure out if its worth sending on-boarding an email to see if my background check is "clear". I suppose at this point it's just a waiting game until we get a class date??

Anybody out there familiar with the current timeline for an assessment retake invite, still three months? And should it come automatically at the three month mark with a link as the first one did, as long as you’ve been updating?
