Any "Latest & Greatest about Delta?" Part 2
Sure, you can’t take a trip across the country, so it’s not the same as time off. But as a looongtime Res bidder, unused Res sure as heck ain’t work. Heck, by your own logic, your ‘brag’ at only flying 4 days this year (or whatever it is) is total malarkey. You’ve ‘worked’ 17 days a month…

Uh, no. SC...perhaps. But with our 18 hour LC (a great improvement brought to you by our negotiators last time around) if I wake up in the morning, and I am on LC, I know that I have the rest of that day off. I can even drink beer. Working? Hardly.

I flew 2 days in Jan, 1 day if Feb (GS), and 2 days in Mar. How many days did you fly on your days off?
IMO, the company doesn't like PB days because of money, not productivity. If a guy is picking up a trip on his days off, they are getting voluntary productivity out of him.
Just look at the PB washing decision by the company, purely financial. It will cause lower productivity by:
1. Having guys on vacation when they would have been willing to pick up trips.
2. Having guys not pick up extra time due to the loss of PB day washing.
(Unless you think they were too obtuse to realize their decision would lower productivity)

Also, if you only flew 2 days in Jan, etc you must be in a massively overstaffed cat. Flying that little on reserve in most of the cats in the Co is just not possible right now.
I agree that hawking for GS/QSs on X-Days can be tiresome, but getting your days off back is a huge QOL enhancer for many reserve pilots. Especially in understaffed cats where you know you'll work every LC day otherwise, it results in fewer hours flown, fewer days flown, and higher pay at the end of the month.

Remember that the green book has had reserve rotation guarantee for this contract in it. I would say that falls under tha umbrella too.

For a local, hard disagree. If I’m mowing my lawn or on my couch on SC or unused LC, I’m 100% not working.

And I know I worked 17 days a month, that was my whole point to the OP. PB days didn't generate more time off for him like the OP opined. And he thought that flying GS on his days off generated less flying time which is not always the case, that's why I post my flying time so he could compare (which he said he would love to do), not to "brag".
